Happy New Year
I thought it looks sort of bright like a glowing ember.
We have a New Year upon us. I was thinking as I walked
about this post and this is what I came up with.
A New Path For A New Year
We worked out in the pasture today and got it all cleaned up,
and put to bed. We haven't been able to get out there because of
the rain and we had a lull in rain and the dirt was perfect so
not me of course I don't know how to drive a tractor, I took pictures.
I was thinking that no one really thinks about how precious dirt is, but
it is without proper care you can end up with the Sahara Desert.
I always feel like if you take care of your dirt it will take care of you.
So we try to take care of our dirt and keep her clean and weed free.
We try to put the nutrients back in, I live in California because my
forefathers fled the dust bowl which was a example of poor soil management.
So some before and after pictures: Before plowing.
And after plowed.
I enjoy having a clean house, but I really enjoy having a clean field.
I always tell people we didn't move out here for the house, we moved
out here for the dirt. I love my dirt. I have some patches of clay but
most of it is sandy river bottom that has excellent drainage.
Of course, my favorite farmer.
So, since it is a New Year, I thought I would share
some Resolutions:
1. Chickens are looking a bit plump, they need a bit more exercise.
2. The dog is looking a bit plump, she needs a bit more exercise.
3. Everything else that looks a bit plump will remain nameless.
4. Enjoy life, worry less, love more, and laugh all of the time.
Happy New Year my dear, dear friends, You have blessed my life
far more than you will ever know and you have given me so much joy
I thank God for all of my remembrance of you. May He shower
His love, His blessings and His mercy in every area of your life in
2011
" Lord, give to me a quiet heart
that does not ask to understand,
But confident steps forward in
The darkness guided by Thy hand."
(Keep a Quiet Hear, p. 12)
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding:
in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."
(Proverbs 3:5-6)

Happy New Year! I always enjoy your posts, and am looking forward to reading more in 2011!!
Love love love that list! :)
Read your resolution that you told Patrice - to clean under your sink? :)
I love your dirt. I always say land is the most precious thing (land and the water that feeds it) as there's only so much of it to go around...
as an 'okie', i completely understand your love for
good dirt. some of my family went to california and
washington but most of us stayed right here and
slugged it out.
and then came oil . . . :) "come and listen to a story
'bout a man named jed."
i love your motto: a new path for a new year. i pray
that your steps are confident and sure.
love,
lea
You make me laugh..."they will remain nameless", huh? ha! ha!I can relate to that! I dug in the dirt today...planting pansies. I'm a little late, but I got sick, the holidays happen, and then it turned too cold!!! Today, it was 63, so I got them in their pots. When they are blooming beautifully, I'll post a picture! Thanks for the encouraging words....hopefully, we'll both "bloom" this year, too!
Oh I just love the pasture when it's freshly plowed. It's so... renewing! I'm glad you take care of your dirt, it's very nice dirt. Happy New Year!
I have to tell you truthfully EVERYTHING about farm life intriques me. Maybe I am just a frustrated farm gal, haha...Whenever I go to my daughter's dairy farm I follow my sil around and he teaches and shows me how it all works. Fascinating... My daughter thinks I'm nuts, but I honestly love it. I think I'd be the same way about dirt...haha...
I am soo glad I met you here in blogland. I soo enjoy your posts, and look forward to getting to know you better in 2011!
Happy New year to you and may the Lord richly bless you with His best. HUGS!
Wonderful resolutions...I want to laugh more this year.
Happy New Year!
That's funny. I think I am falling into that plump category so I will remain nameless!
Ooh, I'm glad you got to go out and play in the dirt. I wish I could walk around in it with bare feet. It always feels so silky and nice.
To answer your question on my blog about Colorado from the air: As far as I could see, there was no snow. It was just brown and boring. The colors all come from the light and shadow from the sunset. I thought it was remarkable and had to get a picture. :-)
Good Morning Kim,
and Happy New Year to you!! I just loved reading this as a matter of fact dh was sitting near me and I read it to him. He loved it, and began to ask me questions about you and your life,. If you mention farming or dirt in any way his ears just perk up! LOL I am so looking forward to taking this journey with you this new year. What a blessing you are to me.
Hugs, Sue
Blessings on the chicken, the dog and the nameless! Thank you for the beautiful sharing of your journey and I don't have a farm, but have always loved farms... spent lots of summers visiting farms as we traveled as kids, so I understand your appreciation for dirt! The first time I pulled up a carrot from the dirt, I thought it was a miracle!! :)
New Year blessings!
hahah...your list made me chuckle!!!!
I like thinking walks! And beautiful shot of the flower!!
Happy New Year to you dear friend:)
Happy New Year! I enjoy my visits here all the dirt and flowers love it! My best to you in 2011.Love your list as well LOL~Cheers Kim
Happy New Year Kim, I love your list of resolutions. Exercising on a regular basis needs so much will power. You do exercise every day by walking around your field of dreams, and it looks like a big field on the picture.
I get a chuckle of you saying you love your dirt. I call it soil and I was telling my husband the other day that I saw a sign by a house not far from here that said "Clean dirt wanted" It made me laugh.
Looking forward to your blog posts for 2011. Hugs, JB
You have been a blessing to me Kim and I always love to read your blog.
You are better organized than me and your blog is always on time while mine is never posted at a regular time.
★ Happy New Year ! ★
