Lovely, Lovely March

Turning the calendar over to March, is I think one
filled with joy. Months have colors in my mind. February
no matter how hard I try, I always see as red and white.
March to me is purple and dark green, and pink and white.
It smells of orange blossoms and flower petals.

To get in my car, the asphalt will be littered with pear petals,
as if waiting for a bride to pass. The grass, has the smell
of dark green and the sun makes me want to lay down and
watch the big fluffy clouds drift by like huge ships in a ocean
of blue with the sails all unfurled. Racing to lands unknown.

March has become the month that hurts my heart a bit. My grandsons
will turn 4 and I want to grab the sand that is slipping through my fingers
at a even faster rate than it did my own children. My daughter will turn
twenty and life continues to change much faster than I want.

I am reminded that "The mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting."
(Psalm 103:17)

I love the word everlasting, it always sounds like a candy to roll around on my tongue
to taste. I like Everlasting flowers for that reason.

When I was looking at Flea Market Style, they had a picture that I loved. As I stared at it
I saw that it was the rack from a water bath canner. Which I have so I made what I saw,
I thought you might like to see it too.

I only have 3 blue canning jars so I grabbed what I had and then
got some clear ones that have designs and filled them with
buttons,

and old wooden thread spools, and wooden apples
and I collect old marbles and thimbles, so I put those in
and I had some old wooden blocks. Then set it in the middle
of my old table. I like it very much.

I save my jars from spaghetti sauce, I don't buy it for the
way it tastes but for how the jar looks because I like fresh
flowers in canning jars as the best vase.

I just wanted to write a Welcome to March post. It made me happy
to know, that spring will be putting on her dress and dancing in the rain.
I love spring!

Before I get busy on my day, I saw you had posted and wanted to come by, and am so glad I did. I was in a welcoming mood for March this morning too. Km, I will be out shopping today and will look at this magazine, I really like the idea of putting the canning rack on the table for a center piece, and yours looks super terrific!! Great job,
Enjoy your day.
Hugs, Sue

Now, Kim, I would never thought of using an old rusty canning rack on such a pretty table cloth. The jars with flowers, yes because I've done that myself. What an imagination you have.

Love the roses, they are gorgeous. I can't wait for mine to bloom. It seems so long away before I can feast my eyes on flowers from my garden. JB

I'm excited about March, too! I'm planning to take the munchkins out on a 'Spring Walk' today and see if we can find stuff that's blooming. Except that the gardeners came today, so if something is blooming, they will have hacked it off. *grumble*

The air just smells so good. Also, your centerpiece looks terrific! We looked at it and Alex told me, "Need to go to Grandma's."

I can always count on you to be crafty and creative. But what I loved most about this post were you opening descriptions - colors and smells and sights abound. You're a poet...

I love the way you describe things. I can see it in my mind. March came in like a lamb so I'm hoping that old saying isn't true and it doesn't go out like a lion.

You certainly have a way with words. I love the pictures you paint..."I love the word everlasting. It always sounds like a candy to roll around on my tongue to taste"...that is beautiful! I look forward to coming to visit everyday...I know I will always find a special treasure here. :-)

I always look forward to March because I know the weather will slowly start to change. No chicks yet. Just waiting for my husband to get the lead out and build me a coop. I keep telling myself don't give up on my dream. If its not this spring I will shoot for summer and so on..... Thanks for remembering!!

When you're a person who buys spaghetti sauce for the way the jar looks, that tells me that you can see the beauty in everything. I love this :-) I'm going to start looking at these jars in a completely different way!
Your display is beautiful, and adds a perfect touch for welcoming March.
Blessings,
Marcia

Hey again! Just wanted to let you know I made the "triple chocolate cake"last night and took it to work today. It was a hit! No one could believe how easy it was to make...just three ingredients! Thanks for sharing it. I think I will be making it often!

Hi Kim,

The centerpiece is adorable. I like that it's not the traditional type of center piece, and you got to put your creative touch to it.

God bless, have a great week,
Michele

oooh! Pretty!

Every new season seems so bittersweet doesn't it?
Yet we would never want to stay in the same one forever.
Bittersweet.

Hugs for today!
