Parrots

We were finally able to get a picture of the parrots. I am sorry that this video isn't better.

 I stood rooted to the spot and then I thought if I walked a bit closer I could get a close up.

Then they flew away. They like to sneak in and eat the sunflowers. I don't know why last night

they were being so vocal. It could have been that my husband and I were walking around the garden

and they were waiting for us to leave.

I will keep trying to get a close up of them as they are so bluish green and so big. They

have a red and blue ring around their neck. Their proper name is a ring necked Parakeet.

They are not local. Our newspaper did an article on them and said that in 1977 when we had a huge

dust storm two parrots got free and now we have large populations of them all over the place. 

They are very shy and I never notice them bothering other birds. When they start eating

my sunflowers the eat them all. The snip of a head and fly with it up in another tree and sit and

eat it. 

I hope I planted the right kind of sunflowers this year because about August-September we get flocks

of love birds. I really enjoy those and they do let me get a bit closer.
