You Can't Be Twenty!

This is my daughter Emilie. My daughters are 10 years
apart. 20 years ago, I was at my grand mothers house and
she said, "Kim when is that baby going to be born?" Her due
date wasn't until March 10th but I said, " Oh March 4th she is going
to March fourth. I laughed and then I woke up on the morning of March
4th in labor.

We had been having a drought and it lasted for 10 years. But on the day I was
in labor with her is rained all day. I listened to the rain on the roof and it
rained the entire month of March. The drought was over.

She is in the middle, she has two brothers older and two brothers younger.
She has always been such a girl, she liked Barbies, and dolls and she loved
jewelery and getting her nails painted.
When she was tiny and if she was being fussy, I could ask her if she wanted to
go shopping and I could put her in the stroller and we would go to the mall and
walk up and down and she would be the happiest baby ever. As a matter of fact
we are doing that for her birthday tomorrow.

When she was little she loved Roo, you know from Winnie-the-Pooh? We misplaced
Roo, I still to this day do not know what happened to him. I tore that house up and every
where I could think of and I never found him.
One day, I was doing laundry and she was about 3 she came in to where I was folding clothes
and she sat beside me and looked up and breathed a deep sigh, I asked her what
was the matter, and she said, " Oh, Mom, could you just take me to the Roo store and
drop me off?" Well, I dropped what I was doing and loaded all the kids in the car and took
her to the Disney store in the mall and she stood before millions of Roo's and looked at
each one and none of them were hers. We bought one that day, but she never really played
with him.

I am so thankful that 20 years ago, I was so blessed to have been given the joy of
having my daughter, and she still continues to bless me each and every day. She
talks to me, she listens to me. She is my coffee partner, she makes me laugh and
she grows flowers better than me. She is my daughter and now at twenty she is my friend.

I am a very, very blessed Mom.

Happy Birthday Emilie,

Love,
Mom

Kim,
Thanks for sharing Emilie with us. Those stories are lovely. They remind me of me and Auntie. My mom didn't like to shop but Auntie was a shopper and passed it on to me :)

I love that God brought rain the day Emilie was born and ended the drought! Happy Birthday to your sweet daughter. ;-)
Those red and white fabrics hanging are runners and tablecloths. Maryann does a lot of her own sewing, she made most of those. I love the colors she brings, to tell you the truth, I'm kind of tired of all the white everywhere, color is good!

I hope my four year old daughter grows up with the same type feelings and friendship you and your daughter share:)

What a lovely tribute. I know the blessing of daughters - we have two of them - and, like you, they are now my friends as well as my daughters.
That was lovely (especially the Roo story, as Miss Debbie said .... oh, I could feel it all having had a 'lost teddy' ourselves. Memories...)

Oh Kim she is just adorable! I don't think there is a much better blessing than that of a daughter! I am soo happy you have this beautiful girl. HAPPY BIRTHDAY to her and may the Lord bless her always.

You got the one daughter too amongst a bunch of boys....but yours was a "girly" girl...who liked dolls and shopping...Mine was such a tomboy...who liked sports and HATED shopping...course she made up for that come college, haha...but she didn't even like to shop in high school. Can you imagine? haha But the friends they become as adults really can't be beat...Have a wonderful week-end!

Ahh, stories on Ems. I could read them all day. I enjoy them more now that I have a daughter, actually.

I love your peach blossoms up there! I was admiring them yesterday, and that is a really, really good picture.
