Simply Sunday
First of all I wanted to say thank you so much for visiting
my friend Sherry. It made me so happy and I have the most
wonderful blogger friends in the world. I have had other people
tell me that my friends are just the nicest people in the world.
So I just wanted you to know how much I appreciate you all.
I am also asking a question. If you can believe it I am almost finished
with old projects I started back in the 80s and the 90s. My stash of projects
I never thought I would finish is almost empty. I have one project left.
I started this in 1988, it is a needlepoint. I have worked on it off and on through
the years.
But now I have discovered rug hooking and needle punch and do you think
I should just finish it up with needlepoint or take the whole thing and draw it on
rug backing and finish is as a rug?
This next part is the whole thing and all that I have left
to finish.
As I look at it I know that it might never get finished.
I would like it to be finished though. It is something that
I would like to give to my grand children now. So I just thought
I would ask, what do you think? Do you think it is
worth finishing or using it as a pattern and using it to make a hooked
rug? I have went back and forth in my mind so much I thought
I would just ask you?
I shudder because I bought the original poster when I was decorating for
my first baby in 1981, I didn't want to loose the poster so I drew it on
needlepoint canvas and started doing needle point in 1988 when I was pregnant
with my son who is now 21 years old.
He was my Winnie the Pooh guy and he drew maps and stuff just like Christopher
Robin and I am thinking of saving his old maps on needlepunch.
I even thought about mixing the medium too.
So let me know what you think. I am curious.
I hope you have a lovely Sunday,
~Kim~

Oh my gosh. I'll let the crafters give advice on what to do. I'm just chuckling at the age of this "to do". You are too cute...
Oh we are a Winnie the Pooh family...my boys can all sing the Winnie the Pooh song and do at the table some times...ages in their 20's. Such great memories, that was one show I allowed them to watch and they would curl up in bed with me, we would eat breakfast and watch Winnie the Pooh...of course we also read the books, and I am reading them all again with Benjamin.
I just love this...now matter your final decision I think it is wonderful. What a treasure.
Oh Kim, you can’t go wrong either way. I think mixing the maps your son has drawn with this on a rug would be so awesome. I love Winnie The Pooh and think this is a precious scene :)
I vote for needlepoint....foe whatever that is worth. I think the detail is pretty and might get lost in the rug hooking, but what do I know?!?! ha! ha! It was a delight to visit Sherry.I look forward to getting to know her better!
I think it might actually hold up better and be more fun to do as a rug. But like Miss Debbie said, some of the details might get lost.
Also, do you still have the original poster to trace from? I think tracing for a rug off the needlepoint will result in inferior lineart, because it's a copy of a copy.
HI Kim, just adore Winnie the Pooh, I am not much help here,as I think any way would be wonderful. You do such beautiful work. I smiled as you were telling of the age of your project, I too have some sitting upstairs in a closet.
I missed your post for Saturday, and will now go visit Sherry.
Enjoy you Day.
Hugs,
Sue
Both! Haha. I think it would be really nice as a rug, actually. Plus, you know I have a thing for Winnie the Pooh. ;)
Kim, I see that you already did a large amount of work on it as cross stitch and I think that you finished it as a cross stitch. I think that if you used your 10 minutes a day motto you would get this baby done in no time. It's a beautiful timeless family heirloom. But this is only my opinion. It would look nice in a frame. JB
I love Winnie the Pooh. (and Tigger too). Hehe. It's beautiful and it has family history behind it so i vote for finishing it. Try the 10 minute challenge with it. It made me giggle that you started it in 1988. I probably have some UFO's almost that old.
Kim, I vote for continuing on in it's original format. It is wonderful and I love it! Now give it attention- ten minutes a day- before it becomes an antique! LOL Your friend from cold and still snowy Maine.
Where you already put time into the needle point, I would stick with that. The rug could get worn in time and then no one would have the pleasure of seeing it. With the needle work you could have it framed and it would last forever. No chicks yet for me but I remain hopeful!!!
