Sewing Projects
This is the latest project I have been working on,
It is a pattern by Crab-apple Hills. It took me so long
I don't know if I am just really slow or if there was just
a lot of work in it.
It is a old post card. I loved it because the script reminded
me of my grand mothers handwriting. I like Crab-Apple Hill's
designs because she has so much hand work in her patterns.
I have always loved embroidery and I do red work and blue
work, but Meg offers so many other designs.
I wanted to do her Halloween quilt she is going to be offering
soon and I thought I needed to get my embroidery skills back
up to par.
This is the whole complete postcard. Her Halloween
quilt is so beautiful that it took my breath away when saw it
on her blog. You can see it here. It is way beyond my skill
level but I would like to try it anyway.
I don't know what my next project will be yet. I found a lovely
quilt shop today. The lady said she offers beginning quilting courses
and I think I might sign up just because I need some refresher courses.
I did ask her about rug hooking and she acted like I was a nutter.
California just isn't rug hooking country.
I had Emilie with me and the lady's son was working who was very cute and
Emilie said, maybe she would have to take up quilting soon. He was very
cute and very sweet. He acted like when Emilie walked in that we made his
day. It was cute.
Thank you for all of the very sweet birthday wishes. She said it has been the best
birthday ever so far.
I do love March! I need to find my kites.
~Kim~

How sweet (Emilie and the boy at the shop)!
That postcard is really neat, but that header shot of yours!!! Gorgeous!!!!
Happy Birthday Emilie...
Oh, I love that apple blossom at the top of your page. Gorgeous photo.
What a clever idea of having an old postcard embroidery pillow. JB
I love old postcards, and seeing a hand embroidered one is even better. Where is that quilt shop? I didn't know we had one.
I love the postcard!! Your work is just supurb!! How cute about Emilie and the boy at the shop....and Happy Birthday!!
Making a quilt should be a piece of cake for you with all your sewing talent!! It'll be fun to see!
I can't decide what I like best - the postcard or the header blossom. Both are lovely. Emilie and the shop boy story is so sweet. And the lady looking at you like " a nutter" cracked me up! Maybe she thought you were a different type of hooker? ( just kidding )
Kim...I've been wanting to get that pattern...I love it! Though, as you know, I already have my hands full of things waiting to be done. {grin} You did a beautiful job on the embroidery...did you work it in stem stitch or outline stitch? Not back stitch? I have a long list of things I'd like to do from Crabapple Hill.
Love that pillow! Happy Birthday~ ~Cheers Kim
What quilt shop? do tell!
Gosh, I haven't embroidered since I was a young girl, I used to love it. Reminds me to begin teaching my 4 and 6 year olds these talents:) Love the look of the postcard pillow...just beautiful!
Maybe Emilie can take a quilting class there. That's one of those things on my "gotta do one day" list.
Have a great weekend!
Such a neat idea! You are brave to take it on!
I love the postcard. I have some embroidery I am getting ready to work on...(any minute, haha!) You are always soo busy, it is inspiring. How I would love to learn to quilt. I just love them. I'll have to wait till I do my knees, but I think maybe then I will look for a class. Wish you lived closer...Have a wonderful week-end! HUGS
I went and looked at that Halloween quilt. It took my breath away! Wow! Now that goes beyond quilting into pure art. I think you'd better start it now if you want a shot at having it done by Halloween. And here I thought that pillow was pretty ...
OH! I Love that postcard idea!!!! I don't mind embroidery so much...one of the only crafty things I like to do. Think there are more of those patterns over there.....?
I love your flowers at the top!
Oh Kim I have some catching up to do! Did the person who took down your fence ever return to apoligize? Offer to reimburse you for fencing expenses? Both recipes look very yummy I would be happy to indulge in both. Flowers blooming and ducks in the pool, both signs of spring and both of which I won't be seeing anytime soon. Your daughter is simply lovely, belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Emillie. Love the new stitching project, what a great design. Have I ever mentioned I flunked out of a quilting class, rug hooking is definately my craft of choice! BTW your header is absolutely beautiful and you who were afraid of a camera. Hope you are well my dear blogging friend, thinking of you, Julie
That is gorgeous what a lot of work. Thanks for showing it. I love it. B
OH!! KIM!! You are not going to believe this...I am doing that pillow also...but I am not finished. Yours is beautiful...well I probably will never post mine, and now I feel so lazy...well, you have motivated me to get it finished...how funny!
Hi Kim, first things first. I love your new header, so pretty.
And as always I love seeing what your hands create, and the letter pillow is superbly beautiful! I was thinking about you today and was wondering what you were working on, and what you and Emilie did yesterday.Isn't it amazing how through blogging our friends come to mind through out the day?
I too was thinking today that this year I am going to get back to flying a kite! We certainly have had the wind! I always look forward to doing this with the grandkids.
Enjoy your weekend.
Hugs, Sue
