Friday Farm Girl

I am linking today with Dandelion House for a blog hop.
I noticed that she has new farm girls I haven't met so when
this crazy day slows down I will be visiting around.

This morning I was thinking about the just what is a " Farm Girl."
I think anyone can be a farm girl if you live on a farm or in an apartment
or even as the lady who gives Oprah eggs in Santa Barbara.

Being a farm girl I think is a state of mind, it is the desire to live a
slower pace, work with your hands, lead a quiet life. Live with the rhythm
of nature all around you. Grow food with your hands and feed your family
with what you grow.

Being a farm girl is about patience. It is about waiting for seeds to germinate,
waiting for rain and watching the sky to see what the day will bring. By living
the life of a farm girl we can get back to the roots that call to us to simpler times.
Times that family was the glue that held our nation together.

Taking the time to stop and listen as a egg hatches a chick. When I stopped to listen
as the chick was peeping in its egg, I don't think I had ever felt such awe.
Some people may not understand this life that we have returned to but I am
glad I have and I know that every day I get to be a farm girl I am so blessed.

Have a lovely day,

Farm girl Kim

This. This is why I do what I do. My family, raising our kids, being Ben's wife is so desperately important to me. And I know living a simpler "farm style" life is what allows me to focus on them.

And I do agree, being a farm girl is a state of mind. I may not have an acre or two, but I consider myself a farm girl too just by my values and the way I want to live! I was going to post about that thinking, but you said it so much better than I ever could.

Very nice post. :)

Kim, you are very inclusive with your definition of farm girl. You are always so generous.

I think that it goes deeper that just the desire to live that type of life, a farm girl at heart maybe but a real farm girl lives and act upon that desire to live off the land just like you do.

Mind you there may be some farm girl who lives and work on a farm but has a desire to be a city girl. Who knows.

In any case, have a lovely farming day.. Hugs. JB

You are a true farm girl my friend! I really don't have a clue about what I'm doing when it comes to gardening, but I have fun anyway :-)
Enjoy your weekend!
Blessings,
Marcia

God morning Kim,
You have posted the perfect definition of what a farm girl is, and your plum looks as though I could reach and pluck it right off the tree. So beautiful .
I have been off line since Monday, and have been so busy being a farm girl ~smile~. Now I am going to go and see what else you have been doing this week.
Hugs,
Sue

What a blessing to be WHERE you love to be, DOING what you love to do! "You have given her her heart's desire and have not withheld the request of her lips." Psalm 21:2

I am I am a farm girl -- and I will always be even if I am at this time living without garden -- sad I know - wink! But good news I get to pop in daily and fill up my basket-up with goodness - thanks tons ! what a blessing you are in my life and yet I have never met you - but I would give you a hug right now for your post today and of every other past post and future ones - you are such a good nature woman and a spiritual soul..

I would so love to own some property to raise and grow more of what we eat.We are in the city and very close to our neighbors so chickens are out for us.I would love to have them though. We do plant a small garden but it didn't do so well last year. Our back yard faces the North and not a lot of Sun.
Crazy your dryer sheets are so much we pay about 3.99 for ours Bounce brand. When we lived in Montana we also payed a lot more for things too.We are now In Oregon and things seem a lil cheaper for sure.
Thanks for the visit! I love all your photos and chickens~Cheers Kim
