Simply Sunday
I saw this picture and I just loved it, looking down a street,
with the snow falling and the light of the street lights giving
the illumination to the snow. The picture is in black and white
and the only thing I am aware of is the the snow falling and I can
imagine the the sound of silence. Then it dawns on me, it was not silent,
there was the person with the camera, who saw it all.
What I love about winter, is that even in the leaves that
have turned brown now, there is life that comes up and the leaves
gave warmth so the seed could grow. I always like that about growing
things, just when you thought winter was here to stay, green,
shows up.
Even though it was raining and it was cold, for a tiny bit,
the sun glowed in the sky. I was happy for it's brief light.
I am always thankful in the winter for sunlight.
With winter here I have to look so hard for flowers. I was
so happy to find a pink Camellia. I don't really like pink flowers
or even camellias but in the winter I am happy for this one.
That is why it is still in the flowerbed. I remember in the summer
how much joy it gave when the days were dark and cold.
The winter sun shining through the limbs on this twisty tree.
I love how the limbs grow and twist and turn. Just a few
thoughts I had today.
Now some thoughts from Someone whose thoughts matter.
" For I know the plans I have for you, "declares the Lord," plans
to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
Jeremiah 29:11
"God already knows every single thing that every minute of every hour
of every day of every week of every month of this year
will hold for you."
(God's pattern for Good," Taken from a cassette.)
God's plans are not necessarily your plans,
God's timing is very seldom our timing.
He wants us to learn to wait, to be silent before Him,
to trust Him for this day's needs of whatever sort.
(Forget Me Not, a cassette series)
I hope the first day of 1-1-11 was a good day.

Amen! Thanks for sharing. Florence
What beautiful images...and that is a favorite verse of mine too :-) I like your new background!
Happy New Year.
Blessings,
Marcia
"Just when you think winter is here to stay, green shows up".... I love that! You are very good at writing word pictures. The quotes are great reminders of God's sovereignty and of His great love for us.Thanks for sharing those! We celebrated our new son-in-law's birthday with his parents yesterday. So, it was a good day!Hope yours was good, too!
Kim, what beautiful photos and thoughts for the day. I love teh camelia--we have no flowers of any kind right now except for some pansies which I love. You are so right about the leaves and the wonderful seeds below. Thank you for the beautiful post and inspiration today :)
I like your new backdrops too! In the gloomy winter, we can all use some blue skies and sun reflecting off the white clouds! I like the beauty you found all around you and shared with us. :)
I like the background page. Blue skies for all! I love the snow picture. I have actually been in a place very similar when it snowed and I can remember hearing the snow fall. I know it sounds weird, but it happened. I can't imagine that kind of silence often. If we were that silent often, can you imagine how much God could say to us!
We finally differ on something. I think camelias are so pretty. I don't mind pink flowers generally. My favorite flowers are daisies, daylillies, and zinnias. See, I'm really quite simple at heart. My mom used to love gardenias. I have a picture where her wedding flowers must have had at least 60 or so. That must have almost been an overwhelming smell. I will forever be the only soul on the face of the earth that's allergic to roses. Hubby calls me Cheap date when it comes to flowers! lol
Pictures are great...your words calming. I went this morning for a drive, hubby and I, and we went to places that look like your field of dreams...it was calming and refreshing! My husband got out to pat the horses, I laughed at the goats.
Your flower is beautiful...always life even in the seasons of our life when we feel we are dormant.
Have a great week Kim...so enjoy stopping by.
Dear Kim, How I enjoy your pictures, and your thoughts.I love the scripture you have shared, one of my favorite. And I always have to remind myself and our children of God's timing and how perfect it is. Thank you for a great beginning of this new year.
Much love,
Sue
What a beautiful picture of snow falling at night. Kim, I'm sorry that you don't like the color pink. I love pink flowers. But then I love any flowers. They bring me closer to God because of their delicate beauty and they are so short lived. I always wish that they lasted all summer , But each season brings it's own beauty. You are so lucky to be able to find things growing outside in winter. Here everything is dead, dead, dead until the spring. Have a blessed day. JB
How lovely to be back reading your thoughts, seeing the lovely pictures you display for us visually and in words. Reading cyberfriends like Julia, and reflecting that even though we are hours apart even in the fastest plane, we can meet here for a moment or two...
