Things We Did This Weekend
This is our new lawn mower. My husband worked and worked
on the old one. It was 10 years old and we really used it. My husband
got it all back together and it even went one length of the lawn, then
it broke again so we were starting to look like no one lived here so
we hooked up a trailer and took off to Lowe's and bought this one.
The boys all took turns mowing the lawn. (That is our youngest son.)
This is sort of a before and after. The left side is after
the lawn was mowed and the right is what was left.
We also got the garden laid out for this year. That was fun
to go out and stare at it and then make the paths and each section
of what we want to grow. This will be the section for tomatoes,
peppers, green beans, and beets and onions.
This is further out and it will be for my sunflowers
and corn and pumpkins, and squash, and cantaloupe.
This is how big it will be from standing at the edge
of one of my paths. I love how big it will be, I am sure
I won't be singing this song come August.
We have made a garden almost as big as the half way point
of the 2 1/2 acres.
As I stood there I am hoping that we can run some more waterline
and put in more avocados, pink grapefruit, lime, and some more blood
oranges. (notice I put we in there, it isn't we at all it is my husband.)
Poor guy, in the spring he is so busy because he is so kind to like to put
up with my hair brained schemes.
I feel like it is Christmas today. The field of dreams, becomes more than
a dream.
Have a lovely Monday.
~Kim~

That's one BIG garden! :)
Productive weekend for sure!!
Well, hey, you know how the new Green mantra is "Sustainability"? Looks like you've got it in spades out there. You need a windmill water pump, though, so you wouldn't have to use so much water. :-)
So glad you guys finally got the lawn mowed! It was starting to look like the Amazon. :-)
Wow! Guessin' you're gonna be plenty busy, woman! I wish I had that energy. And...nothing better than a freshly mowed lawn. The smell, the green of it all.
Oh my, you are gonna have your hands full with that garden!!! I can't wait to see it all planted and beautiful..just imagine all your fresh veggies and fruits! Are you planting an avocado tree too? (they are trees, right?) I'd like to try here, don't know if it would work or not, might not be warm enough. Nothing smells better than fresh cut grass..too bad it makes me sneeze!! ;-) Lisa
WOW! That is quite a garden! I cannot believe the things you are able to grow!!!! How lovely...I may need to come help you harvest;))
Wow....the Field of Dreams is huge. Your garden could feed a small town! You are very ambitious to even attempt to weed that massive garden.
WOW!! I am excited for you....that is going to be SOME garden...ENJOY....Have a wonderful day. HUGS
Kim, all that hard work is paying off, what a wonderful feeling to look back and see this beautiful layout, I can understand the feeling of Christmas for you.
I can relate to the lawn tractor situation as we have a large space to mow. You lawn is so green, it gives me hope of seeing warmer weather and green grass here. lol.
I have been away from my computer, and I am going back to your last post see what you have been doing these past few days.
Hugs,
Sue
I love your enthusiasm for your grand garden field. :) And the plowed and ready dirt is SO inviting! Hurray for the new lawnmower! Ours is about 4+ yrs old and I LOVE it (and abuse it) so I'm hoping it'll go a few more years yet!
What a lovely portion the Lord had alloted you! Your boundary lines fall in pleasant places...wide, wide boundary lines! That really is an incredible plot of land you are gardening. I can't wait to see it full to overflowing.
Nice to meet you via Daybook! and Wowsa! I will be back to see 'how your garden grows' =)
Yea for the new mower! My hubby will continue to repair everything until all hope is gone, too. Sometimes i just want to say..."For pete's sake, buy a new one." Especially when he spends more time working on it than using it.:-) Soil looks neat and orderly. Look forward to seeing it green!!!
WOW, that is a very impressive garden space. How in the world do you keep that weeded, hire the grandchildren? LOL How wonderfully exotic it sounds to actually be able to grow and pick lemons, limes, grapefruit and papayas from your own trees. Do you have a farm stand on the property or at a farmers market? I did see a Robin today and a flock of red winged blackbirds, our first signs of spring. Temperatures still in the low forties and fields snow covered. I hold on to the promise of spring. Looking forward to watching your "Field Of Dreams grow." Your friend from snowy Maine, Julie
Kim, I'm impressed by the size of your garden and your enthusiasm. It feels real good seeing you so peppy and full of dreams. Your garden is going to be awesome. I love your plans to put more avocado trees and blood orange trees and all the rest of trees that we can't grow around here. Your husband is a good sport but I think that he must enjoy working the soil or he probably wouldn't have moved there. All the best with your new garden.
Thanks for leaving a comment on my blog. Meeting Kim from Millie's Mat was a great blessing to me.. She is a sweetie and I love her dearly.
Have a great week and stay happy. Hugs, JB
I'm glad that you got a new lawn mower so you can concentrate on your garden now. JB
Wow! Better than Christmas any day! What a wonderful garden. I know it is a lot of work, but, oh, the satisfaction....makes it all worthwhile. I'm looking forward to seeing it all step by step...
I just tried my first blood orange a couple of weeks ago. I would love to have a tree of them in my yard, too. Good luck with the weeding. :)
