I Am A Challenged Driver
I am finally back home. I think though, my hair feels that it
turned a bit white. I was thinking, today maybe I should just
turn in my keys and start taking public transportation.
I think I am a menace.
I have been out of vacuum cleaner bags for a few weeks.
The man who's shop I go to for repairs and bags is a very
sweet man and I like his store. I am just not wild about the location.
So I put off going as long as I can. My animals are shedding, I am going
around the house on my hands and knees collecting fur. I knew it was time
to get in the car and go, today.
My son Elliot, oh, poor Elliot. The things he has to put up with. He needed to go
to the bank and deposit his paycheck. For some reason, I get lost every time I take
him to the bank. I have to tell myself where to turn and pay attention. Today I needed
gas in my car first. I pulled into the gas station. I knew if I pulled out of one side of
the gas station I would be on the road to the bank. I pulled into the gas pump, got out
of my car walked to the back where the gas tank is and guess what? No little door on that
side of the car and I was on the wrong side of the gas pump.
I slink back in the car praying no one just saw what I did. I pull around to another gas
pump on the right side. Get out get gas, now I can't go out of the driveway I was going to go
and so I go out another one and had to do some fancy driving but we did make
it to the bank.
We get finished and I was going to take him home before I went on my journey to get
vacuum cleaner bags. Oh how I wish I had just listened to my instincts. Now at dinner
I am sure the whole family will know about my lack of driving skills, but lets say, I got
lost twice, and went the wrong way, and at one point he said, " I just want to live", not
to mention, he said he is never going on errands again. "
They are putting in a new freeway. I needed to get to the feed store. I never made it to
the feed store. I could see it but I couldn't get there. I almost got ran over by heavy machinery
and tractors and trailers with loads of asphalt. I got yelled at by men in hardhats
and by the time I got out of the road construction I just wanted to go home.
I will try and get feed another day. I really wanted to just go and look at chicks. I wasn't
completely out of chicken feed.
So I came home and made a cheese cake. It is in the oven. It smells wonderful.
I didn't get flipped off so I guess it means I am not that bad.
So on this day I am thankful today I am home and not driving anywhere.

Oh my gosh, Mom, that is hilarious! I'm glad you made it home alive. And Elliot, too.
Dear Kim, you are over worked and you just need a break. We all get days when we should have stayed in bed. I'm glad that you made it home all right.
It's a good story.. Hugs, JB
Poor baby! Thanks for the laugh. Cheesecake would make it all better. That's what I'm having for my b-day!
Wow!!! Home Sweet Home...
Bless your heart! Sorry for your trouble...but you made me smile..."I just want to live!" There were people trying to run over me coming home from TN on the interstate Sunday. I don't usually mind driving that trip, but Sunday, I just wanted to get home, too!
i did have to laugh at your son's plea. :) oh dearie. i think you need a chauffeur! :)
Haha...oh sorry...but too funny;)))
OK, I'm laughing. I have this image of Eliot's face and his little fingers dug deep into the door handles, holding on for dear life.
And I hate to tell you this, but if I had seen you at the gas station - I would have laughed harder!
Oh! this is so funny Kim, been there done that. I will give you my excuse so you can use it next time.... "I was having a menopause moment". LOL
Enjoy your day.
Hugs,
Sue
hahaha! could be me!
and yes i don't know how many times i pull up on the wrong side.... WITH MY OWN CAR!!!
haha, it must be the girl part in us...?
Thanks
Leontien
I'm sure I've had a similar experience... Oh yea, it was yesterday! Well, maybe not quite as bad as yours (sorry). I love your detailed ramblings today. Made me feel like I was sitting right there giggling with you! Make yourself a list of things you know you are good at. You don't have to do any of it, just look at it. It'll help, trust me. ;)
Blessings, Debbie
I am soooooooo sorry!!! Well this city girl puts the miles on her car driving all over the place. I can go through 10 cities in one day, just taking my kids to home school sports. I do know the frustration of going the wrong way on the highway on the way to a scheduled game and I do know how my shoulders ache after the tension of being in bumper to bumper traffic.
I am sending you a hug and a giggle...such a fun post to read because we all have these days in one way or another! It keeps life interesting...but you sure did see some new sites on your adventure...and you made a memory that you son will tell about.
LOL! Oh my. Yes, at least you're home and alive. Just send someone else to get your stuff. ;)
I have often wondered how one maneuvers on a California Freeway? I would have a panic attack for sure! You did well to get home safe and sound, and then make a cheesecake!
The good news is Elliot will get old one day...just saying -smile-.
I'm taking a break and spending my birthday, 4/11, in solitude and sleeping. It's way past time and I encourage you to take a break as well.
