It Was The Day After Christmas

It was the day after Christmas and all through the house, not a ornament nor tree was found in the house.
Yep, I got up this morning, while my husband was cooking breakfast, and started putting every thing away and cleaning and it was nice having him home because we got the tree down and out in the shed all before 10:00 AM
I moved furniture back to it's places and now peace reigns. We had a lovely Christmas and I did really think this year, I might be able to just let things be but I am not. I am ready to move on. Knowing that we have a wedding here May 18th, 2013 has all of my attention. My husband is planting flower seeds and we have snap dragons coming up nicely. The seed catalogs came in the mail and I turned to the flower seed sections because her colors with be magenta, white and purple.

Anyway, I finished rugs and I wanted to show you the picture of the rug I made for Meg.

I have a note card with this design on it and the original art is done by a lady named Dotty Chase, who is an American Folk Artist. I love her art so much. It just speaks to me and the way I like things to look. She reminds me a lot of Warren Kimble. who I like a lot too.

I finished binding the other rugs I did earlier in the year. I think I got over my fear of binding rugs. You know with my new glasses I feel like a new woman. I feel like I can do anything again. I didn't realize how depressed I had become. So anyway I feel like dancing again and singing. Not a single headache now for almost a month.

Okay back to rugs.
I finally finished the crow and pumpkin rug.
I really like this rug. I was wondering how do people who make rugs, get to the point where they sell them? I feel like a hoarder. Oh this pattern came out of the magazine Primitive Quilts. I believe it is in the first issue.
I am going to make this as a quilt someday. I am getting the craving to do some quilting again. Now that I can see.

My next rug is the one that I had my daughter copy the chickens from a pot holder I had. Now I have some serious love issues going on with this chicken rug. I put it down briefly in front of the wood stove when we had people here for Christmas Eve. Only briefly. After everyone left I picked it up and put it on a bench I have. So it will be there a while until I can find somewhere that it will be safe. I am feeling a bit like Gollum and "His precious." Over this one.

My brain is going crazy again and I have rugs that I want to make dancing jigs in my head. I would like to finish up the couple I have that now I can work on and I would like to try and finish them before the New Year. I have to get as much hooking done as  I can because I know that once we shift into full panic mode of wedding preparation there won't be much time for hooking and sewing.

Thanks for stopping by today. My husband got a few phone book size programming books for Christmas so I hang out with him on the computer or sew when he is on the computer and I thought it would be nice to do a post.
It has been a lovely week so far.

I'm so glad you are liking your glasses. You really do look so cute in them. They are a really nice style for you. I am cleaning today too! The tree is still up, but that is because Ben has started his garage project. The toys and trash and all the carnage is getting put away. I love my rug, thank you so much. I need to find a safe place for mine too. I think I will hang it on the wall somehow. I need to commission you for a chicken one for in front of my kitchen sink. Or maybe a cow, I like cows... :)

I'm like that sometimes. But not this year. I just turned the tree on in here and am enjoying it's soft glow. I dread putting it all away but I'll probably do it this weekend since I have to go back to work next Wednesday. I'm not looking forward to it and yet, I love it at the same time. Crazy. Your rugs are so pretty/cute/fun! I think I would frame them and hang them up!

Kudos on getting everything put away already! We had Christmas #2 when some boxes got here today, and I haven't had the energy to take the tree down. Maybe tomorrow. I'm ready to move on to the new year!

Happy Day After. I'm jealous you have everything put away. It's a crime punishable by almost death to put Christmas away here!
I'm in total love with the chicken rug. We are expecting bad weather tomorrow so I'll email you updates on the past few days then

WOW...I am impressed that your Christmas is all down and stored away for another year...impressed, and yes, a little jealous, haha. I am somewhat dreading that chore. I LOVE your rugs! Glad you had a good Christmas. I am avoiding sugar only because now my blood sugars have been too high, not because I am soo disciplined...sigh. It is always something. I am excited for your up coming wedding plans! And you know, it will be here before you know it!

Oh, Kim, Your rugs are so beautiful, I can understand wanting to hold on to them. You are so smart to get the decorations down and everything cleaned. I have been taking a break, trying to catch up on visiting here in blogland.
Our seed catalogs arrived yesterday, and I am already thinking about the gardens, snapdragons are one of my favorite flowers.
Enjoy your day.

Your rugs are so beautiful! I LOVE them!

I can't wait to hear all about your preparations and planning for this upcoming wedding - what an exciting time for you!

And like you, I have so many quilt patterns running through my head ... and not nearly enough time to make them all ... although I'm certainly going to try. ha!

So, so glad that you're able to see now - and no more headaches!!

Our family just all arrived on the day after Christmas, and they will be here until Friday. We still have our decorations up, but most will probably come down before the week-end is over.

I admire your work on those rugs!

Have a good Thursday!

You have been busy! Your rugs are just wonderful Kim, I like them all, but I gotta say your chicken rug just makes me smile. Family have all departed, Travis and I are watching the snow fall, it is a day to remain indoors. How exciting to be preparing for a wedding, your Field Of Dreams is the ideal location and May 18th is Travis Lloyd's birthday!! Have a lovely day, greetings from stormy Maine, Julie.

Congrats on your upcoming wedding. I remember all the beautiful flowers you and your hubby did for the last wedding you had.

I haven't been on the computer very much these past three weeks and boy does it feel good. I have had so much to do. The rugs are beautiful and like you the chicken one is my favorite. It is so exciting knowing you will actually be having your daughters wedding at your house. I don't expect you will have the time to post everyday. Soooo much planning to do for the big day..

Wow kim, You are really going into high gear.
I missed commenting on blogs this week and finally got my computer up and running today.

I'm glad that you had a great Christmas. It must have been a memorable one. I also glad that you are feeling so much better since you got your new glasses. I never got that reaction with my new glasses, lol.

My tree and decorations stays up until the church takes theirs down after the Epiphany which January 6. One of my neighbour used to take hers down right after Christmas. I'm just starting to relax so It will stay up till then I guess.

Wishing you and your love ones a Joyous and Healthy New Year.
Hugs,
JB
