May First

We have made it to May. May to me is like what Charles Dickens said in The Tale of Two Cities. For me, May is the best of times and the worst of times. Summer for us is just around the corner, school is almost out, my birthday,:(
I had some thoughts on my 54th year.
1. I really can't be this old. Wasn't it yesterday when I was climbing trees, having dirt clod fights and riding my horses.

2. My parents had a prune tree. I thought they were plums. I ate 10, Don't go shopping after consuming prunes. Things you learn in life.

3. When I turned 12 my step-mom told me that the sooner I learned that the world did not revolve around me, the happier I would be, It seems I keep trying to learn this, but on my birthday, it always reminds me that really that was true advice. No matter how it still hurts.

4. Age does not bring wisdom. If anything it reveals that I haven't learned anything and really now the world knows for sure, I really was an idiot.

5. At this age, the best thing in my life are other people. Not how much stuff I have.

6. Learning that the best thing is having a gentle and quiet spirit, because walking past mirrors is a shock.

7. I am glad that my husband says it would be too much hard work to train another one. He is very happy with me.
8. My view now, is on eternity. It is closer than my twenties are now. At least I know lots more people up there.

9. Really at this age, I am scared of just talking about my visits to the doctor, my aches and pains, and not being about to get up out of a chair. How did it come to this? If I start that you have my permission to slap me up side the head.

10. What is the thing about " aging gracefully?" I am going to fight it with every fiber in my being and I don't mean eating for cereal in the morning.

11. I can say that in these 54 years, God has given me trials and joys and in the midst of life peace. He promised to never leave me nor forsake me. He has promised to be with my when I passed through the fires and the floods and they never washed over me. He has kept my feet like a hinds feet, firm on the Rock.
He has told me "No,"  and always showed me a better path. He has always been there even when I turned my back on Him. I am thankful most of all for the hand of God that has guided my life these 54 years, and when the time comes for me to change my residence I know He will guide me home.

I have been given a life full of dreams. For the most part has kept me surprised. I guess I ask for the next 20 years, He would continue to give me joy in all of the circumstances I find myself, and a life with chicks to fill my days.

So May, here you are and here I am, I guess we will make it through together.

Happy May!

~Kim~

Happy (almost) Birthday! LOL at #2. Yep, that's probably a very important thing to remember. 54 is not old. I think you are young and beautiful! 90 is old. You have a long way to go. ;)

Ahh Kim, Your husband is right, it would be much hard work to train another one. That is so funny.

You still look young to me and not old at all.

Start planning for what you will not do on your birthday. Hugs. JB

Those are good thoughts for May. I'm not having a very good attitude today, so it was nice to come over here and get an adjustment. :-)

I try and not look in mirrors any more than I have too, and like you I am fighting this getting older with all my might.!smile~

I love my birthday! I think I like anticipating it. I'll be 54 in September! We're twins!
I like getting older because my older family members (mom and grannies) seem/seemed so happy and content with the slower pace of life. I guess I'm looking forward to that!
When I was younger I always had weird haircuts and hairy eyebrows. Now I like my white hair. I have noticed some wrinkly-ness on my neck lately. Interesting.
Make your birthday REALLY fun! Eat ice cream for breakfast and buy yourself some flowers! Sit around and watch movies or make yourself a birthday card. You are precious and you will have a zippy birthday. I'm sure of it!

I said a reluctant hello to my 54th in January. Of course, my dad says it's better than the alternative. True. I've decided that, while I will continue to have birthdays, I will tell people I'm 53. From now on. When I'm 97, I'll tell everyone I'm 53. So there. :) My grandmother was so funny. Up until her late 80s and into her 90s she called the seniors at her church "the old people" and referred to the group as 'they' and 'them' never we, us...and she colored her hair until her dying day. I'm with her on this! Numbers:1, 4, 5, 6, 9- I completely relate to. Number 2- hilarious! Number 11- Amen!

Happy Birthday, is today your special day? Happy May day too. In my fifty-four years I have learned not to sweat the small stuff and to great each day with a smile. I do admit there are times when I look in the mirror and wonder who the old lady is...time flies, how true!

Hope you have a Happy Birthday, your list was great. Getting older has it's challenges but I wouldn't wish to be any other age. There are advantages to being a bit more "seasoned"

Happy 54th Kim! I hit that one a long long time ago. Beautiful post, I couldn't agree with you more. One thing I must tell you whether you believe me or not. It only gets better from there. I'm 62 and I've never felt better in my entire life. Gosh life is good (no matter what may be showing up at the moment). Things show up, they are only transitory, God is always Good. Love your pictures as always.

Oh, my! Did I miss your birthday? Happy birthday to you, Kim! I imagine I am old enough to be your mother, but I'm certainly happy I didn't become a mother at the age of 18!:) Here's wishing you a belated very happy birthday and a year full of wonderful blessings!
