A Finished Rug

I finished my cat rug this week. I just need to do the
edge and I thought I would be finished but life just
gets busy. I think my grandson will be happy with it.
Since as he said, " It was his kitty."

I have these books I bought in 2002. The one I got my pattern
out of for my new rug is called, Woolgathering, By Whimsicals.
I have wanted to do this rug that long. I can't tell you how
many times I have sat and stared at it and yesterday I finally
got it on Monk's Cloth. I prefer Scotch Burlap but I will try this
since I have so much Monk's Cloth.

It took me so long because I never noticed that the
pattern was split up between two pages. So I drew it
on paper with all of it together and then it is so big
and my light box is so small I had to draw it section by
section. I can't believe I am finally going to make it. I
am really excited.

Yesterday was a car juggling day so I had to take my daughter
to work. As I drove in front of Home Depot, I drove by the garden
department, out in front they had all of the primroses and Hyacinths.

All day long I thought about them, I could even imagine
the smell. I wanted those flowers. I don't think I am having
spring fever but these flowers kicked it up into high gear.
I went to go get her a bit early and as I walked around looking
at the flowers and telling myself why I didn't need them. I know that
when they get to this stage they are almost done. I walked out and the
smell was heavenly. So I bought a few. I have just stood and
smelled them.

I keep telling myself about the heat, and the bugs and
all of the work and time having a garden. How much easier
it is to just sew. I am like Alice though going down the rabbit
hole. I can feel my mind slipping away and longing for spring
and wanting to dig and plant seeds and pull weeds.
I am just not strong enough to resist the pull of being in a garden.

Have a lovely weekend.

Oh! I KNOW! The pull of a garden.....while all is buried under feet of white stuff.
So glad you bought those blooms!
And your rug is perfectly adorable!!!!

The rug is so cute! The flowers are lovely. I usually plant in pots. By the time I get home from work, I am not up to pulling weeds, so container planting makes it easier for me to have pretty flowers. I admire your productivity...not sure how you do it all!! :-) Hope you have a lovely weekend, too!

You made me laugh at the garden, Miss Alice. :)

Love your kitty cat! I know your grandson will too. The face turned out great, even if you said you had to re-do it several times!

Oooh me too! I've been going flower crazy. I ripped the trellis off (out of?) our wisteria the other day and asked Ben if I could plant Morning Glories around it. I was going somewhere the other day and saw a planter full to the brim with flowers and I was so jealous.

Hi Kim:
I love your kitty rug...Great job...The new rug you started looks really fun. I can't wait to see what colors you use....Love the primroses...I usually have them planted on my front porch before valentine day...After looking at your flowers I'm on a quest today to find and plant primroses...
Thanks for making me laugh, Nancy

WOW...ya done good, girl!! Cute kitty rug! I have that Whimsicals book...love their stuff! You'll have a lot of fun with that rug, for sure. Glad you got it all drawn out. I used to have a little lightbox, but when I started my business of selling patterns, I had a friend make me a large one that is perfect for standing and drawing...measures about 2 x 4 feet...LOVE it! Flowers...too many bugs for me. {grin} But, so beautiful.!

Beautiful rug...how precious that your grandson has named it his kitty
Well we are still coated in snow but the snow has come out and it is up to 43 degrees...it hasn't been past the 20's for days...so I am getting spring fever, but it is suppose to start over...I think I will go to see flowers today!
Enjoy your weekend.

Good job on the rug! The cat's face looks good, too. It'll be fun to see what your next rug looks like with the house and everything. :-)

I've sat here for days and done nothing but tulip-worship, so I know what you mean about longing for spring. I keep wanting to read the Secret Garden, but I'm afraid that will make it a million times worse. I'm so thankful that we generally get our spring in March.

And maybe this year you could just do a smaller garden? I know I won't be capable of canning and stuff like I'd like to do this summer. Sigh.

Wow, Kim, your cat rug is already finished. You are really a fast hooker for a bigenner. I of course use a fine cut and it's so slow hooking.
Hyiacint
Whenever I see the first spring flowers I get so anxious for my bulbs to come out of the ground and I love to go around my flower beds peeking at anything that pokes through. I love the smell of Hyacinths. Bring on the Spring. JB

Great job on the Cat Rug--it’s great. You are getting good :) The flowers are so pretty and I need some color in my life. This grey tone world I am living in is about to do me in!
