I just had to show you a picture of these frames for the pictures of the bride and groom. It was old barn wood frames with chicken wire. I love the look so much I might have to make some. It looked really nice like this on the gift tables.
Here is another picture.
Sorry it isn't a good picture but I was leaning over the gift table and it was a long reach. Not to mention I felt kind of odd taking pictures like that.
My husband got to do some Bonsai work this weekend. You know you just don't want to experiment on your trees that you are growing so in order to get better at it he goes to Lowes, and finds specimens on the mark down rack. He bought these, darn I can't remember the variety of pine, Moogo I think. He found these for a dollar. It was root bound and over grown.
One of the things that I found so interesting, is you take it out of the pot. and you have a tool like a comb. You comb through the roots removing lots and lots of roots. Then you put it back in the pot. If you have lots of roots it makes the tree grow lots of limbs. Since you want the tree to stay small, you don't want lots of limbs.
Don't you just love the twist in the trunk? I thought it was so cool looking. He needs to get it in a Bonsai pot and then he had to find the kind of soil it would grow in and he has to sift and mix to get the best kind. He also needs to wire it to get some more movement in the limbs. That is what makes Bonsai look so neat is the movement in the trunk and limbs, your eye is drawn to that movement.
This morning I planted sunflowers. It got so hot yesterday I couldn't stand being out in the sun. I went out early and planted great long rows of them. I still have lots of seeds left so I might need some more rows.
We managed to get some tomatoes and peppers planted.
Not a very good shot of the tomatoes. They are in the ground is about all I can say. The didn't go into shock or anything which is good. We have more to put in but like I said, it just got to hot to be out there yesterday.
I was getting ready to go out in the garden and I thought I would let the girls out so they could come out with me. They took off up the hill towards the pool so happy to be out of the pen. They did come out in the garden. I love listening to their voices and watching them scratch. I get my new silkie chicks next week. I can't wait.
Have a lovely Monday, thank you for all of the nice comments about our family. I enjoyed every single one.

We have a wedding to attend at the end of May. Our SIL's little sister is getting married. Love that picture display. The bonsai's are quite interesting but sounds like they require a bit more patience than I possess. LOL My favorite is the girls heading for the pool. I have visions of them lounging around on floats with drinks that have little umbrellas in them! :)
Hi there, Loved seeing this today; that's a great way to display the wedding photos.
Your girls look so cute in the yard.
Have a great day!

Didn't he do great at Lowe's for $1!!
I also love the pics of your darling family, it's so much fun to see real faces of our blogging buddies and their kids. You might guess that one of my favorites was the bride sticking her tongue out! Too cute. :)
love your thundering 'herd' o' chickens! and a great pine!
Great bonsai for a dollar!
I had to scroll down and admire you all at the wedding - don't you all look so good - it must have been a fun wedding!
Have a good week!
Christine
The bonsai is really cool! Also I love that one chicken in your chicken picture, with her wings out. She looks so funny.
I think that you should hang pictures of your chickens too on the fence. They would look real nice too.
I love how you are always so creative. I would never think of that.
The chickens are looking mighty happy and your husband did a great job on that bonsai pine.
Hugs, JB
oh kim i just LOVE that frame. what a great idea!!
The girls are so cute!
We might plant our Field of Dream sunflowers at the same time!
Yes, I love the photo idea, too!
If it was hot, I'd be heading for the pool, too! ;-)
That bonsai looks awesome already. You'd never know that he only spent a dollar ... and isn't even done yet. I admire those who have the green thumb and patience required to grow bonsai.
You just have toooooooooo much fun. I can't wait to see and learn more about the bonsai trees...how interesting. Our sunflowers are coming up...I am excited. My tomatoes are doing okay, don't know if I will have enough to do much with...but we are trying.
Have a wonderful day!
your posts are always such fun, so full of life
and love.
the chicken wire photo frame is adorable,
your tomatoes are off to a good start, but
your chickens stole the show . . . as always. :)
This is so cool, your dh is doing well in learning how to grow bonsai, and thank you for sharing. We planted tomatoes, peppers and watermelons today. I will plant sunflowers soon but we have been so busy painting that I haven't done a whole lot of gardening.
hugs,
Sue
