I hope you have a wonderful day with family and friends. I always love waking up on Easter morning. Today I had a few thoughts about it. (Don't I always??)
What would I do If I went to a tomb to visit my loved one and there were two angels sitting there instead of what I thought it would be? Would I listen to them or would I run away? Would I believe what I saw?
I think like it says in Luke, " I would be terrified."
My thoughts on Mary, the mother of Jesus, Where did she get the strength to go to the tomb at that early hour when she had watched her son die on a cross, and listen to all of the taunts thrown at him?
I always think of the broken, and exhausted women who see the empty tomb then all of the words that they had listened to when Jesus told them must come flooding back and they believed.
I love that the special gift was to the women, but to Mary especially. She needed a miracle.
To know that her son lived, and he had risen again. Just as He said He would.
Then I love the part in Luke where the women run back to tell the disciples, they go into the room and start telling the men. 24:11 in Luke says, " And these words appeared to them as nonsense, and they would not believe them."
I love little details in the Bible that are clues. The Bible is filled with them if you just look. One of them that is so small it is often over looked.
In the family that Jesus grew up in, his day job, he was a carpenter. In those days, when there were people who couldn't read, a carpenter would take a cloth and fold it up and put it on the finished work. So the person could see that the job was finished.
In the tomb, when Peter and John go to the tomb to find it empty, In John, is a very important clue. It says,
" and the face-cloth, which had been on His head, not lying with the linen wrappings, but rolled up in a place by itself."
I have always wondered why in verse 8 says, "So the other disciple who had first come to the tomb entered then also, and saw and believed." What was in that tomb, ( I mean apart from it being empty) to change John from a non believer to a believer?
John went to that tomb, not believing that the tomb was empty and seeing a cloth off by itself, believed.
The reason being, when a carpenter had finished and completed a job, the cloth was folded to show it was done. Jesus left that clue there, He had risen just like he said he would. It was so important that we reading now don't notice it too much but for me it sticks out like a sore thumb.
I have these things that go through my mind. They are my favorite stories. I just had to share a bit today.
Have blessed day,
~Kim~

Thank you for your studies. I love to read your thoughts on the Bible, even though I don't always comment. I've always said I love your Biblical insight; you're a good teacher, Kim. You are able to touch countless people that you don't even know about.

Happy Easter! Our day is almost finished...evening chores done...but you've still got a few more hours! Hope it's been a great day!
Happy Easter! I never knew what you said about the cloth. It makes me cry that Jesus loved his disciples and us so much that He made sure that we knew the job was done. I will remember this for the rest of my life. Beautiful. Your flower pics are stunning, really stunning. You really ought to enter a photography contest. It rained really hard all day here.
I LOVE your thoughts...I have had the same and I love that Jesus, in a culture that didn't give much credit to women, appeared to them first!
Great post...Happy Easter..He is Risen!!
Growing up Catholic and going to a private parochial school my entire life I liked what the nuns liked and that was the New Testament. They always gave us such insightful meaning to all the readings. Of course Easter was so much more solemn. Wonderful post Kim.
Thanks for sharing your Easter thoughts with us. You are a rather observant friend to come up with this thought about the folded cloth. I hope that your Easter day was as blessed as mine. I love your flowers. Happy Easter Kim.
How insightful Kim, a perfect post on this most special day. Easter blessings my friend, Julie.
