Chats on the Farmhouse Porch

It is time again to go and visit Patrice and have a chat on her porch. She has a question today about her birthday and if we were going out to celebrate her birthday, this is where we would go. :) But more on that when we get to that question.

Questions:
1.    Would you prefer to watch a movie in a theater or at home?
I have really decided I like waiting and watching a movie at home. I suppose if there is something I really want to see it is okay, but anymore it is just better to watch in the comfort of my house.

2.    Do you have a specific way for managing change(coins)? This could be a bank, a large piece of pottery, or an old bottle. Perhaps you roll it right away for the bank, give it to your kids, or spend it instead of letting it accumulate.
No, I don't get that much change. I have a can in my car that I keep filled for emergencies, like toll roads or things like that but no, we don't get that much change.

3.    How often do you have to vacuum?
I should do it lots more than I do, but my vacuum is such a heavy thing that I make myself do it once a week. I need to buy a new one but just refuse to until this one quits working.

4.    Do you prefer flooring, carpet, or rugs?

I have lots and lots of tile in this house. I like wood floors and carpet. I like tile just because I think it is cleaner than carpet and I can change rugs. So I don't know I which one I would like more.

 5.   This week is my birthday! Yay! If I could visit you for 1-2 hours, where would  you take me.

Okay the picture is the cabin I would take you to, and we would just stay up and talk and talk. Food would be really easy and it would just be a nice time. I hope you like cabins. :) You could paint to your hearts content and I would hook rugs. :)
I hope you had a very happy birthday Patrice.

I like your answers to Patrice's questions.

One question I wanted to ask you, when you answer Patrice's questions, do you cut and paste? I tried to do it but I'm doing something wrong and it never works. I'll have to get my daughter to show me how to do it on my Mac.
So when I participate in the porch chat, I have to copy manually and most time I'm too rushed. I've been too embarrassed to ask before.

Thanks for your sweet comment on my blog. It means a lot to me.

Hugs, JB

What a lovely idea for a birthday celebration. It sounds so relaxing. I've always thought that who you are with is much more important than what you are doing (most of the time). It would be peaceful to paint or write while you were hooking a rug, but knowing me, I would probably study what you were doing with the rug and I'd be addicted to rug hooking. I love creating things.

You know how the Bible says we are created in God's image? He created, so maybe that is why it is so natural for us. I just heard a speaker say that one of the best stress relievers is to do something that you really love. You don't even have to do it well, but just enjoy what you are doing. I need to spend less time working and more time enjoying.

Your answer about vacuuming reminded me of how I used to hate my heavy vacuum. I ordered an Oreck and they are really light. I'm happy enough with it, that I'm on my 3rd one in 20 years. Remember that I'm the one who kills stoves, washers/dryers, and anything mechanical. They die from overuse. I'm still happy with my Oreck.

I'm off to play today with my sister. I think we are going to consignment stores and maybe even an antique store before sitting with some tea. Just my kind of day.

Have a wonderful rest of the week!
The others, who commented, can come to the cabin if you'd like:)

oh that cabin, yes please!!

kim you should get a swiffer carpet sweeper, they are super lightweight, run on a charge (you just have to keep it plugged in when not in use) and it picks up great. you will be amazed at the job it does!!

The log cabin is really quaint. There are several log cabins spackled through the Smoky Mountians. It's really interesting how folks once lived before electricity and the rooms are so small. I'm humbled by this because I whine and complain about how small our place is. Our home would be enormous compared to most of those old places.I think Patrice would love your birthday surprise get-away!
