More Wool

I think I have found my newest hobby. Dyeing wool. All week I kept thinking about it again and I kept thinking maybe my mind was playing tricks on me and I really didn't have as much fun as I did earlier in the week. So I got out my pot and I took on packet of orange and one packet of strawberry Kool Aid and added a 1/4 of a teaspoon of tan dye to my dye pot. This is the color I got, the picture doesn't do it justice, it is this creamy orange color.
This is my tan color, the rug I am using has a tan background so I needed more tan than I had so I made this color. This is so much fun to know what color I want in my head and to mix until I see it. I feel like a bird let out of a cage.

We are having a dust storm today, with maybe rain tomorrow. I thought I would tell you than no, the pictures I posted yesterday were last years pictures. Thankfully we don't have any trees blooming yet. The wind today would have blown them all away.
I just thought I would share my wool. I feel like I am on my way to finally being a real (Rug) Hooker.

Have a great week,
~Kim~

I get excited watching all the stuff you are dyeing. It makes me want to pull out the dye pot too. I am living vicariously through you right now. :)

Oh and I hate dust storms. We don't have them back here. We have tornado watches when a new front is coming in :)

Kim, once you get bitten by the dyeing bug you'll never be the same. It so much fun. Sometimes when my husband would come home he would find a pot of wool on the stove instead of a meal. lol... I love dyeing but I use the Cushing dye. I've used onion skin in my dying too.

I just ordered April Deconick Dyeing book called The Wool Palette revised edition a few days ago and got it yesterday. I'm so exited but I'm not dying until I get that quilt off the frame. Hugs JB

I'm planning on a marathon dyeing session during February vacation! I have quite a lot of wool that needs some wonderful color! And, my dear, if you pull loops...you're a real hooker!! For me dyeing is the combo of two great things...cooking and crafting! Enjoy!
Hugs,
Courtney

What fascinating ways to dye wool. I assume that the color that you achieve when mixing your "dyes" is the color you get when the wool is dyed and dried ... I would worry that when wet, the color is different (more intense??) than when it's dry.
