Oranges and Lemons

The lemons and the oranges are starting to get ripe.
I am so glad, but the way the kids want to eat them
I am hoping they last long enough to get really ripe.
My son went out with a flash light
and brought in oranges and lemons. The blood oranges
are barely pink.

The lemon tree we have is a Meyer Lemon. Bar none
the best lemon ever. The longer it stays on the tree the
more juice it produces and the skin is so thin. One of the
things my kids do is pick lemons and drink fresh lemon-aid.
All winter. There will be a pitcher of it in the fridge.
Tonight though it is because the whole house is coming down
with my cold. The-Whole-House.
This is not the week for me to have got everyone sick. It is the week
before finals for the kids. My husband is in the middle of a two year
project that is due Friday.

Don't you wish you could schedule being sick? Tell your body,
okay, here is my schedule for the next few weeks, I think I can fit being
sick here to here.

Mondays are just Mondays sometimes. I am glad
though that this too shall pass.

I am glad for lemon trees and orange trees. Just looking at
them make me feel happy.

Blessings to you,
~Kim~

I hope you don't get sick. I also love lemonade. Maybe it will keep the cold at bay.

I am truly envious...some of my favorite fruit is fresh-from-the-tree citrus from friends in Florida. It just doesn't get any better than that...those thin skinned fruits are incredibly juicy and sweet!

So sorry to hear that your family is getting hit by the cold bug. We had it around here over the past couple of weeks too. I love your lemon and orange tree photos. I wish we could grow them here. We had a lemon tree when I was growing up and I just loved it :)
Hope you're feeling better soon.
Blessings,
Marcia

Lemon tree...very pretty! I remember the citrus trees that grew near us when I lived in CA years ago!! We had an apricot tree in the backyard. I hope your crew feels better soon. Colds always sound so benign, but they are really awful. I'm back to work this morning, so Monday really is a Monday! But, you're right, this too shall pass.
Hugs!

Hi Kim!
I need some of that fresh lemonade, too! Yesterday I must have sneezed 500 times! My head is all fuzzy.
We'll see how I make it through the teaching day. I hope to leave when the bell rings this afternoon!
Get well! I will, too! I will pray that the whole Kim group receives a speedy recovery!

Oh Noooo. I hope this cold runs quickly through your house and out again. Open up all the windows and let the fresh air through and drink the lemonade.
It was be so cool to have your own lemon tree.

I can't even imagine being able to go out in the yard to pick my own oranges and lemons. They look wonderful.

Sorry everyone is sick. I hope all improve soon!

Lemons and oranges in your back yard what a blessing. I'd be like your kids going out before they are completely ripe...What fun....

It's no fun being sick and having a house full of sick kids though....Prayers that you all will be free of bugs and germs very soon and back to normal....

Wow...fruit in your backyard. We tried blood red oranges last year because you mentioned them, they are great but we rarely get them here.

No fun with sickness...so, so sorry. I always realize the blessings of health we take for granite when I hear someone is sick...praying for healing to you all.

Can I identify with this! How I hate to be sick, and it just NEVER works in...Hope you are all feeling well soon...My oldest son had both lemon and orange trees in the house he lived in for 5 years...Kept us all supplied. We have all missed them. Have a good day!

LOVE lemons and oranges, another reason why I love living in Florida.
Yes, I wish I could schedule our sick days. We've been fighting off a very stubborn bug for over a month and I was the worst on Thanksgiving, my favorite holiday of all. Yeah, I know. Good thing I cooked ahead on Wednesday (except for the turkey) so that I would not be a zombie on Thursday.
Enjoy your Monday, Kim (although I've grown fond of calling you FG). Get well wishes to all of you. Will pray for all of you.

Your oranges and lemons post reminds me of growing up in southern California... there were miles and miles of orange groves lining the highways, and then the developers started buying the land and building, and they began to disappear. I just loved those orange groves!

Enjoy your trees and the beautiful fruit they are producing, and maybe you need to make a hot lemon and honey drink for yourself this week. Hope you feel better soon.

How so very lucky to have your very own fresh lemons and oranges but I feel sorry about everyone getting your cold. I hope that everyone get over it real fast. Vitamin C is supposed to be good for cods so eat plenty of citrus.

I love the new festive look on your page. Today I brought out some Christmas decoration and found your cute little wooden Christmas trees decoration. I immediately thought of you. Hugs, JB

Oh! how I would love to grow lemons and oranges! Get plenty of rest, and drink lots of fluids.

How unbelievable is it to have orange and lemon trees. Just think of all the lemon desserts you can make. I just saw on TV a few weeks ago about slicing you lemons very thin and then dehydrating them and using them in tea and actually eating them just like they are when they are dried.
