Giving Thanks Challange

Today is day 3 of the Giving Thanks Challenge.
I was cooking dinner thinking about this post.
I wanted to tell you about my servants. I am very,
very thankful for them. They are my best friends.
Without them I couldn't spend so much time doing all
of the other things I do.

My first one is my mixer. I have a heavy duty mixer
called a Magic Mill. Because of it my bread is always perfect
and my cinnamon rolls are perfect too.
I was going to make Cream Cheese Danish and I know
I owe it all to my mixer.
Then there is my stove. I don't have to go chop wood,
though that might be okay. I have two ovens which I love,
I can knock out so many cookies at one time

I am really, really thankful for my washer and dryer.
It gets used almost every day. Oh I can' t forget
my dishwasher. It helps me keep my messes in check.
Without these things in my life I would have a very different
kind of one.
My time would be spent in different ways.

When my kids were small and all six of them were
such busy kids, I did laundry every day except Sundays.
I did about 10 loads a day.
I can't imagine doing all of that on a scrub board.
I live a very easy life compared to the women before me.
I don't even have to go out and kill a couple chickens for dinner.
And pick them and clean them.
So today, I am very thankful for the servants I have and
how they make my life so easy. I need to remember to be
thankful everyday for those things I take for granted.

I can't imagine how I'd get through a day without "my servants". ;-)

I see some quilting blogs on your blog list ... do you quilt?

What would we ever do without our electric wonders. I hate doing dishes and can't imagine not being able to throw in a wash when I wanted. Most of my town 80% has been without power since Saturday night. I have had the whole week off because of the power outages. We were very lucky and never lost our power. This section of town is on another grid.

Lovely post! My favorite servant would be my bread machine - although I only use the dough cycle - but my bread always comes out awesome! I spent years trying to do it by hand and could never seem to get it to raise the way I wanted it to.

I agree, Kim... I have SO much to be thankful for, daily... because I drive a 40' school bus, I'd add that I am thankful for that... but I don't think most kids ever give it a thought, especially the ones who show up at the bus stop on a 35 degree morning in a t-shirt knowing the bus is warm inside so they can look cool. Rather than walking 2 or 3 miles to school and back and would never purposely be out in the cold walking if they had to!!

I'm thankful for my servants, too! We have time to read and make things! Our foremothers would love our lives!

Wonderful Thankful post, Kim. I am thankful for my servants too. While reading this I was reminded of seeing my grandmother go out to the chicken yard, get a chicken and wring its neck and that is what we had for dinner. I also remember her using a wash boad to do her laundry, she worked all day never stopping. I was amazed at her work ethic. Thanks for the reminder tonight. i have been so melancholy today. It must be this cold. lol
Hugs,
Sue

I am thankful for my health. Today I donated blood and went to get swabbed in case I can donate bone marrow. There is a little boy in our town who needs marrow, but odds are very low they can find a match. But if I match then my health can thankfully help his. Wish me luck.

You are so fortunate to have such a large, faithful staff. Sue's response reminded me of how my mom worked so hard, but loved laundry day, especially seeing it hanging out on the line. The artist in her, compelled her to hang it up coordinating colors.

Amen to that Kim!

I envy your double ovens. I'm getting pretty good at timing different temperature things, but I would be very happy with double ovens. :)

Oh how I think often how are pioneer families got along with so little. A much slower lifestyle. Perhaps there was time to stop and smell the flowers. Florence

Hi friend! It was good to get caught up this morning. I have been sick for over a week, so about all I have done is work, eat and sleep...and pay a couple of visits to my new grandgirlie! Finally feeling better today and I have next week off to spend with my daughter and the baby. Her hubby and MIL took care of things there this week. Love reading your posts. You paint lovely pictures with your words and your grateful heart is a blessing to me. Enjoy your weekend!

How nice to appreciate all the conveniences of the modern day and to be grateful. Our lives are more complicated these days perhaps but we can get more things done in a jiffy. Great post. Hugs, JB

Oh how right you are! Whatever would we do without all of our servants??!

In one of the houses we lived in I had two ovens...How I LOVED it!! Especially on holiday meals when the turkey or the prime rib took the whole oven for hours. Oh! and when baking cookies your right, they really can't be beat. Now I am afraid I wouldn't put them to much use, except on Thanksgiving and Christmas of course...Have a wonderful week-end! HUGS

Great gratitude post.
How lucky we are to have modern appliances to make our lives easier :)

I just had to come and visit your blog. I've seen you leave comments on other blogs, and loved your sunflower logo. I use a sunflower too :)
I just knew I'd love your blog... with your blog title and blog logo.
I'm now following you, and looking forward to reading all your posts.

Have a great weekend!

I love this! And you're right- we have so many things to be thankful for that we tend to take advantage of daily. We sure know it when they break down though! Great post!
