Chats on the Farmhouse Porch

It is time again for Chats on the Farmhouse Porch.
I like porches but mine is a bit of a mess. I need to get it
cleaned before Thanksgiving.
I hope you are having a great week.
If you get a chance to get by visit with Patrice and
she has a picture of her real porch this week.

Questions

1. Where would you take the blogger group for a chat, if they came to your house?

Well, let me see, my living room? I would have tons of food in the kitchen, a fire in the stove, and lots of comfy places
to sit an we could just sit and chat and talk about what ever we wanted to talk about.

2. How do you handle "toxic people"? They're the ones that are very difficult to be around and generally don't bring out the best in us.

Oh I don't know if I would ever label anyone like that. I always figure that no one is a lost cause and I think I would just want to see if there was some way I could help. I think that for me, I always think if I could just be a better person I could love them and see them and their hurts without first thinking of my own. I always wish I loved more and always unconditional. I don't though, my feelings get involved. I wish I could always say, " My life for theirs." I wish I could say all of the time that I thought of- Jesus- Others- Yourself=JOY

3. In high school, were you the athlete, the cheerleader (actual or just your personality), the geek, the social butterfly, or lost?

Gee, I wasn't any of those things. I was just me. I had friends in every group and I don't think I was lost, I was too busy.

4. What's your favorite thing made from apples?

It has to be apple pie. But I like apple slices and peanut butter pretty well too.

5. Do you do most of your shopping in stores or online?

My husband does the shopping online. I rarely shop online now nor do I go into a store unless I have to have something.
After he changed jobs and our lives changed so drastically I made myself stop spending money. I still can't do it. I get sick to my stomach.
So he does it now. I don't think he minds. :)

Thanks to Patrice for this weeks questions.
I hope you have a great Wednesday!
~Kim~

Oh, I want to come over for a chat. I agree with others on your posts...you are so caring with the toxic people! I admire that. Forgiving can be hard, but really, it is so necessary.
Hugs!

Don't forget to link up to my post. The second answer was that of my sweet friend, Kim! You are so generous in spirit. I actually got the term "toxic people" from a book.

It would be such fun to visit with bloggers in your living room! Have a great week.

Kim
So nice each week to get to know you a little better.
You must be very trusting to let your husband do the gift shopping! My DH wouldn't know where to begin.
BTW-What type of tree is that in your 2nd photo. It is just beautiful dreesed in it's fall
colors.

I do believe you are one of the kindest people... you make me feel a wee bit ashamed...in a GOOD way! You would be a good friend to have to keep me in line...(sigh) I wish we lived next door to chat for real. I need a good friend....
ANYWAY!
I agree with apple pie. The best thing to do with an apple besides eat it off the tree!:)

I liked your answer to #5. I think that is an awesome trait. I know what it's like to lose a job and have to radically change your lifestyle but it would be hard for me to just stop shopping for Christmas.

I am usually like that about 'toxic' people but even you would be tested with Hubs' sister and brother. I have NEVER witnessed people like them anywhere else in my entire life. They are horrid. Just horrid.

I enjoyed your answers- as I always do!

Funny how we get out of the habit of spending money when we've had to make an economic adjustment in life.

Good answer: you were just yourself. I suppose we all were, really.

Hi Kim, I loved reading all your answers and btw, I love your background of maple leaves-so autumny. I hope you get more sewing done today-I'm changing out two squares on mine because I don't like them with the other 34 blocks.
Have a great day; I just got back from walking and it is so windy and cold outside.
Hugs, Noreen

I love these random question meme's...this was interesting as always. I know that I should feel the way you do about "toxic" people, but sometimes I just don't. I have known a couple of TRUE ones in my life, and distance from them was the only way I could bear it. Your attitude is MUCH more as it should be. I am working on that. ; ) Have a good day!

Hi Kim, sorry, I'm still playing catchup with blogs. Life has been really busy for me lately.

1. I would gather my blogger group in my open plan living room, dining room and kitchen. If the group was larger they could spill over in the sunroom. Lots of good food, conversation and laughter and photos of course.

2. In my shop when I had deal with a toxic customer who was always sucking energy out of me and everyone else, I decided to disarmed her insecurities by giving her compliments so she didn't need to feel that she needed to brag and put down others. It seemed to work and I didn't feel drained by the time she left the shop.

3. In High school, I was independent and has great friends. I never felt that I had to follow anyone.

4. Apple pie calls my name.

5. I like to see and touch what I buy so I shop in stores but I buy books online when I can't find them anywhere else. JB

Oh you sweet gal, I wish I could sit in your living room and chat away the afternoon....wouldn't that be so much fun?

I love reading the farm house porch chats....It's such a good way to learn more about my blogging friends....I guess I need to join but it seems I am always a day late.....

I love your response to the "toxic" people.....I find it hard to give up on people too but I have to tell you I have had some real ones in my life...I guess we just have to let God lead the way.....
