Wedneday Words for Weight Loss

Do you remember that song by Hank Williams, " Back in The Saddle Again."
That is my theme song today. So without further ado,
Please go by and visit my friend Patrice at her great blog, Everyday Rurality.
She has some great posts.
Okay here to this weeks questions.
Questions:
1.Have you tried various diets or programs? What works best for you?

Yes, I have tried lots and lots, I started when I was 10 years old and my first
diet was the Adkins Diet when you ate hot dogs and lots and lots of bacon.
Me and my cousin about died. Really the most success I ever had was a group
of ladies from my church and we had a little group that met together week to week
and it was called "The 9th Fruit." Which is from Galatians and the 9th fruit of the spirit
is self-control.

2. Have you ever dieted or exercised with a buddy?

Yes, my oldest daughter. Before she got
married and still lived at home, she was my walking buddy. When she got married and moved away I was lost because she always was ready to go for a walk. Now I have my dog, but she
doesn't demand quite the same way.

3. What's your favorite type of salad?

Anything with Spinach. I could eat raw spinach with anything. I don't like cooked spinach so it has to be raw. I love it with mandarin oranges
and strawberries and red onions.

4. What's the first place you start to notice that you're losing weight? (ie. tummy, arms)

My face, I think, then my legs.

5. What's one thing you can do to pamper yourself this week?

I scrubbed my shower with a pumice stone and it really tore up my
hands, I think I am going to make a lemon scrub and then put my hands
with oil and gloves and sit for a bit. My hands really got rough.
The recipe is from my dear friend Sue you can get it here.
The Pear Tree Farmhouse.

Thanks to Patrice for hosting another linky party.
Have a great Wednesday.

  2. Good Morning Kim,
I too have tried many diets, and I like your take off of being Back in the Saddle Again. LOL. I love spinach and we will be planting our spinach seed March 4, as we plant by the almanac. Do you plant spinach in your garden? I love to go out in the garden and pick a fresh veggie or herb and eat it while working. LOL
Thanks for mentioning me and the lemon scrub. I am really enjoying mine.
    Enjoy your day.
    Hugs, Sue

  3. Yeah, I was thinking of all those times I'd put on my walking clothes and come down to find you not going to walk that day, and I'd be disappointed, and you'd get guilty and go for a walk after all.

And you know, I guess weight loss does show up in the face first. I was trying to think where I notice it first, and you pegged it.

  4. I walk Tucker every day. Once he got used to the routine (which only took one week) he got very demanding about going each day. We just passed our one year anniversary of our morning walks! Just take the dog out every day for about a week and she'll never let you skip a day afterwards! LOL

We did First Place at church once. That was a good program. But, back then, I only had like 20 pounds to lose. Now, it's WAY more than that.

  5. i know how you feel about losing your walking buddy. i have
lost two, and it's just not the same without them! your hand
    soak sounds wonderful.

someone told me to pour some olive oil in a gallon bag and
put me foot in for 30 minutes. apparently the foot will soak
up all the oil. sounds icky.

  6. LOsing weight has got to be one of the hardest things to do. I'm not big on exercise but know even a good walk daily would help. I admit I'm a dessertaholic. But once I make up my mind I can stay on track...it's just the making up my mind :)
    Great inspirational post!

  7. That lemon scrub is a very nice way to pamper yourself. I will have to check it out. Spring is coming and you will find many ways to burn calories I am sure. I know I do!

  8. In thinking back to an old blog I posted, when we asked my mom in the middle of the desert and no ac... what would you do with a cold bucket of beer right now? She said... ohh, I would soak my feet in it! We laughed our heads off at the time as kids, but I wonder... wouldn't it be funny if that bucket of beer softens your feet! :)

  9. Oranges, strawberries and red onions are great in a spinach salad! Your hand treatment sounds wonderful. I just got a nice lotion from Tropical Traditions that is mostly coconut oil. It's really helping my hands and face!
Have a great week! Your post about the freezer raid made me laugh because I have been there. Back in the saddle! Hugs!
