I finished a couple of rugs on Monday. Well, except for the binding. I just can't face sitting with a hot rug on my lap right now. I am trying to get the rugs I thought I would get done this summer finished so I can move onto other rugs I have.
This was fun to work on, I dyed the colors for this one. I used all of my new dyes from my dye kit I bought. I really enjoy dying wool. It just gives me such freedom that I really enjoy about rug hooking. I even over dyed colors that I thought would look better and that was fun too. The more I do rug hooking the better I like it.
This was a small rug that I am going to make into a pillow. It took me so long and I should have been able to do it in just a day. But using just black and white made it so hard for me to keep hooking on, I would think of lots of other things to do rather than work with just black and white. I need lots more color to work with. Color just makes me happy.
I really like Primitive and I like the colors but something happens to me when I am working with those drab colors. I just want to throw in some really bright colors. I feel like I am hooking along following the rules, and then something takes over and I have to do something bright. Same thing would happen when I was making jewelery. I would say, just stick to the pattern. But I never do. I wonder if that is a some deep seated character flaw? Failure to obey rules?
Okay, sorry, that is all I got today. I will not complain, I will not complain. ***hint*** sun comes up--- high pressure system---August= You know that word.
So if you are getting to have nice, cool, lovely weather, enjoy it because I am so happy for you, because you went through lots more this summer than Ole complaining me.
Have a great Wednesday!

That crow and pumpkin rug came out so cute!! I'm so ready for fall. And pumpkins. When those little pumpkins go on sale at the store, I'm going to buy some and eat them. Also, I hear that acorn squash tastes just like pumpkin. Have you ever tried it?
I noticed it was a degree cooler outside this morning. Let's hope this trend continues!
Right... Not complaining. Well I went to go look at my sunflowers a bit ago, and the grass is still nicely damp and cool. I'll just ignore the rest of the day.
Kim, you are just a hooking machine. You are really hooking up a storm lately. The pumpkins look great. I think it's OK to complain about the weather. I consider it a matter of public safety. If I don't complain, I might hurt people :)
A girl after my own heart!! The same thing happens to me when I am hooking with the drab primitive colors! LOL! I'll take a little pop of Chartreuse any day in anything!!! LOL!
I love your style of hooking! Wished we lived closer so I could watch you hook..... it's wonderful!!
Hugs!

you will get your cool weather again. :)
I hope it soon cools off for you! The relentless heat is enough to make a preacher swear! :)
Oh dear ... I am reveling in my 'in the 70s temps' today - first time this summer I have enjoyed this warmth. *I* am trying not to complain that we'll be back into the 60s or even 50s by the end of the week.
I know I have so much to be thankful for....
I admire your rug hooking, Kim. That's something I've never done.
Weather can certainly affect our attitudes, can't it? It is sometimes a challenge to think about our blessings when the weather seems to be working against us.
xo Nellie
It has been lovely here the last few days, no rain but cooler temps.
Your rugs are so cute, you have quite a talent.
It's good to know I'm in good company! :-) I've about had it with heat and humidity this Summer too.... would love to get back to hooking... your hooked mats are great! How about giving the Hilda Sampler a go? lol!
Don't be sorry - I always enjoy admiring your work too! As I don't hook I'm even more in awe of rugs and I love the pumpkins and stars!
Best wishes
Christine
I hope cooler temps come your way soon. Your rugs look great. I was telling my friend this weekend about your rugs and how you sometimes dye your wool with Kool-Aid. That amazes me!
such weather extremes!! it's so hard to feel good/happy when the weather is so hot!!
Great rugs!
Awwwww. Crows and pumpkins! My favorites! The rugs are beautiful!!! I loved hooked rugs! I tried, but I am not good at it! How long does it take you to do a rug that size?
Hey! If you are not going to complain, can I do it for you? YUCK! Yuckity, yuck, yuck! My sinuses are killing me! I don't even comb my hair! It's useless. Okay. Done with that.
You are too funny! I like that you want to go "off the beaten path" with your work! That is what makes it yours!
Your rug and pillow turned out wonderfully! I think it is great that you want to go outside of the box on your patterns. A true Artist! :)
Beautiful garden photos. It is too hot here as well. Makes me wish I was back in Wisconsin visiting my sister (high 70's, low 80's there). That was so nice! :)
Happy Wednesday!!
xoxo...Gloria
Not sticking to the rules means that you are CREATIVE! Great rugs.
Kim
It sounds like you have good reason to complain! I hope you get a reprieve soon.
I love your fall rug. You must have quite a collection of finished rugs now. When I see all your finished projects, it makes me think of all of my unfinished ones!
Kim ~
Great rugs! You did a good job dyeing the wool. After seeing your dye purchase, I went online and ordered it, too. Still haven't tried it...sigh. I also have a slew of rugs to bind - UGH :(
Pug hugs :)
Lauren
Your rugs are beautiful, Kim! Well done!
It's okay if you complain. I would, too. It's supposed to be cooler here tomorrow. I hope the weather forecast is correct.
Your rugs are so beautiful! You are just so talented.
I can certainly sympathize with your complaints ... that heat is just unbearable. Praying that you get relief soon.
Cute! Tell Kess that we have a squash back here called Buttercup that tastes and cooks just like pumpkin. It even has seeds just like pumpkin.
those came out just great!
