March Is Going Out Like a Lion

March came in like a gentle quiet lamb. We are having nice storms with wind as it leaves. This March has been like all of the others before it. Too busy, filled with hard things and good things. We have lots of birthdays in March. This year we had another new baby for March. I hope April is a bit slower.

I said at the beginning of March I didn't know if I would get many things sewed for March but due to the rain the last couple of weekends I did get some things done to show you.
I finally finished my sheep rug. I learned lots of new things while doing this rug. I learned how to dye wool. I learned how to do letters. The rug was so long and narrow, I learned  that do not try to save on the backing, it is hard to try and hook edges when you can't get it to fit the frame. I have lots of scrapes on my fingers and arms to prove it.

I learned a lot sewing this too. I can't do counted cross stitch when there are people in the room I am trying to talk to, because I can't count to save my life. I don't think there are any I have done thus far that I spent more time ripping out.
I did start April and I hope to get it finished before May. I also can't sew worth a darn when my life is in turmoil. Something happens to my brain. The only time I can sew is when there is calm in my house. I guess sewing for me is like a barometer. Peace and calm = finished projects.
I have so many things I would like to make. I plan on starting a new rug, and like I said, I started April. I am though not really producing things like I wish I was, but life seems to take over and fill my days.
Not to mention, spring comes in and I want to be outside.

Thanks for stopping by today,
~Kim~

Rug is pretty Kim..I used to do cross stitch all the time now it's just too hard to see. Been kind of stormy here but I am enjoying it, everything is greening up and after last years drought I am not going to complain. Hope things quiet down a little for you...have a wonderful week

Kim, it sounds like you have been very productive. Here March is going out like a lamb, we expect. There have not been any storms predicted this week at all. That means March came in rather like a lamb, and that is the way it is going out. Last week was our time for storms. You've had a busy month.

Kim, your little sheep rug and your March pillow are just adorable.

I've used pieces of backings that were not large enough for my hooking frame and I sewed a piece of wool along the edge to extend the piece and it grip nicely on the frame. I have made a cover for my frame to protect my arms and wrists also when I hook.

Just hang in there and things will all work out as it should. It's not easy being a woman sometimes. Hugs. JB

That picture of the sun flower is awesome, I have to plant a couple of those this year. They look so awesome when they bloom.

Love the rug and the stitches! When I am hooking or stitching I usually "zone out" and that is my "mental therapy" for the day... so no counting and talking at the same time for me either! lol! When it was warm I was outside in enjoying the spring clean up... this morning it's back to 30 degrees... I hope the magnolia blooms can hold on until the sun comes up!

I love that rug! I used to do a lot of cross stitching. I have a half finished project ... a Thomas Kinkaid piece ... I ought to finish it, but I don't know where I put the floss (and it uses so many colors that I hate to have to go buy all new). I haven't given up on finishing it, but it's not a high priority. Maybe if I need a break from quilting. ;-)
