Being Thankful on Thursday

My husband had to be out the door, by 4:30 this morning. When the alarm went off, I was thinking, I can choose to be really grumpy or I can choose to be thankful about this day. As I listened to the shower running, I came up with a few things I was thankful for at 4:00 A.M.
 1. I have a husband, my friend lost hers and I wake up lots in the night and hear him breathing and I am so thankful I am not alone.

2. I was glad the alarm went off when it did because I was having a dream I was in a very, very dirty kitchen and there were mountains of dirty pots and pans and I was supposed to wash them all by hand.

3. I was thankful this morning when I went outside to take the dog, I could smell the touch of rain in the air, the clouds were lightly over the moon, but it was shining none the less. I could see the stars in the sky and I could smell the blossoms. I know today will be warm because I can feel it already.

4. I am thankful this morning that I have a coffee pot with lots of coffee in it. Not to mention a washing machine and since I started so early this morning I might be finished with laundry before the kids get up for school. :)

5. This morning I am thankful for flowers, that no matter how grumpy I might want to be today, they always make me happy that I am alive.

6. But today I am thankful that I have friends who stop by, who read what I write and who share stories of their lives. I am thankful for the people who have blessed me and who have made me think. My life is so much richer for it.

I am thankful for you today, because if I am lonely or sad, or even grumpy, your lives make me forget about my troubles and you always give me hope.

Have a lovely Thursday!
~Kim~

Beautifully said! And, a great reminder to all of us that would highly resist getting up at 4 a.m. You are thankful for the most important things, and I agree with each one of them. I am going to be grateful for those things with you today!
Thanks for the inspiration,
Joyce

Dear Kim, you always brighten my day with your thoughtful post. You are so right about being grateful for the little things.
Sometimes in my rush ( I'm always in a friggin rush ) I forget to be thankful and I get to grumble between my teeth and I talk to myself in a bitchy way as if it will change things, lol...

I love how you put things in perspective and your pretty blooms too...

4:00 is so early. Take a little nap if you can and all will be well.
Hugs, JB

Beautiful post ~ I thought the same thing this morning at 4:30 a.m. when the thunder and lightning just about shook me out of bed. But we got up and enjoyed a cup of coffee together ;-)

A Cheery good morning to you. Wow girl, you were up with the chickens. I wanted to tell you that I went and got some otc Dramamine yesterday(for motion sickness)because that is what my doctor in Ca. said to do for vertigo and I'm just fine now; so next time you have it you might try it. I hate having vertigo and get it usually once a year but I'm holding onto these pills and will use it when things start to spin.
Have a blessed day. Noreen

I'm thankful for you too! I was very grumpy this morning, because a freight train zoomed (snored) in my room the first half of the night. My escape to a wing back recliner chair only meant that the sound wasn't quite as loud, and I wasn't quite as comfortable. Oh, well... Thankful is a good way to be. I wish I could remember that when a grumpy time starts. I forget and just grumble a bit. Not often, but every once in a while.

#2 is absolutely (and hilariously) terrible! I am glad you chose to be thankful today instead of grumpy. It's a very nice list! :)

You are so right - the choice is ours. We choose what way we behave and the attitude we adopt.
So thankful to have found your blog and share your days and thoughts and flowers!

Great post Kim. I laughed at you waking up in a dirty kitchen full of dishes. I could picture the horrified look on your face. But did you need to add the jab about the full pot of coffee? Really?? LOL

Beautiful attitude Kim. Doesn't life feel so much better in gratitude than in negativity? I think if we just stop griping for a bit, we can find so much to be grateful for. Just today I issued a challenge to all my facebook friends to see if they can go for at least a day, preferably a week without complaining. I told them life would be so much better if we lived it that way - in a complaint free world, at least for ourselves. It starts with us and then it catches on. I really enjoyed reading this post. Thanks.

Hi Kim, it is almost 1;30 a.m. and I couldn't sleep so I thought I would stop by for a visit, while i did a load of laundry. Actually it was a load of sheers that I had forgotten to finish today. that's probably why I can't sleep.lol. It is wonderful to be checking in on you. I read some of your last post and was so blessed by them, your flower photos are always so pretty, as well as your thoughts. I am like you, anxiously awaiting to see some sun flowers! Way to go on the soap, I will one day make some. Your Thankful thoughts for today are so sweet, when i wake in the night I always listen for dh's breathing, and sometimes his snoring. ~smile~ I used to get up early and do laundry and know that great feeling of having it done by the time the kids get up! But for now I will be happy to get these sheers done. lol
Hope you are doing well, and getting out in the garden. I worked in the garlic and onions yesterday, it was wonderful to be out in the sunshine. Hopefully I will get outside today, that is if I can get to bed. ~smile~ I guess i better go get the sheers out of the dryer, before they wrinkle.
Thanks for your kind thoughts and prayers, I am doing so much better, and glad that you are too!
Hugs,
Sue
