Housework

Did anyone ever tell you when you were growing up that
house work is a gift? Or even a ministry. I have thought about
housework a lot as I see destruction again in the south, the Midwest,
just about everywhere it seems. I have thought about
people who's lives are now buried in rubble. Where do you start?
I go through one tiny trial and I am a basket case, what do you do
when all of your things, your house everything you have worked for
all of your life is just gone.

I am at a loss in my mind at what to say or do. My life seems a bit
like Disneyland right now. I know one tiny earthquake and I could be in
the same place, but still. So today as I was going about my business, of putting
dishes away from the dishwasher, loading it again. Having electricity and windows
to even open. I struck me as how blessed I am that I have a house to clean.
I have a house to get dirty. I have a house.

All of the simple things I take for granted seem like such huge blessings to me today.
Clothes to wear, chickens to feed and a car to drive. Food to cook and people who
are safe.

" So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted
and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and
overflowing with thankfulness."
(Colossians 2:6-7)

My prayers are with the people who I don't know who have lost everything as well as family.
But God knows each and every one by name and He is there.

So I will go about my business of housework with a lighter heart, serving those I love and
doing my job because when it all comes down to it, I am so thankful for this gift of life.
Have a lovely day,
We are having beach weather again, cold, cloudy, but maybe it will burn off. I guess
I should have never put my winter clothes away. :)

Yes, I told Ben the cold weather was my fault because I turned the fireplace's pilot light off. And put the cold weather clothes away too.

I have been thinking about this stuff too. How dare I be grumpy about cleaning the floor or doing the laundry when I am so blessed to HAVE that floor and those clothes, not to mention the tools to clean them.

Yes..we got a big kick yesterday and we will be moving, not planned, so I understand the not having regular security of a home...but I can't comprehend losing everything..even loved ones, my heart has broken and my knees bent in prayer. Thanks for the reminder as I work through our hick-up of circumstances.

Dear Kim, your post put things in perspective today. I was crying and had a big lump in my throat as I was viewing pictures of the devastation from the tornado and as I was watching the news on TV I saw a big tornado funnel picking a big 18 wheeler of the road and ripping it to shreds.

I feel so sorry for these people. I have them in my prayers. I too count my blessings that I have a dirty house to live in and that I have a dirty job to go to.

Have a blessed day, Hugs. JB

This is such a wonderful perspective Kim, and it is just soo true. How many simple things do we just take for granted? Your right, praise God for those dirty dishes and rooms that need vacumming and clothes that need to be washed. My heart is broken for these poor people as well. Hope you are having a wonderful day!

You are right! We have been blessed to have never had any damage from storms or floods or winds. I am very thankful. Thanks for praying for me. I got some unexpected (and upsetting) news last night, so I know why God prompted you. Divine timing, for sure, considering the study I am doing now.
We are having 90 degree days here, so I wouldn't mind a cool day! :-)

I'm so thankful to have my little corner here for a while longer. My friend Brenda's uncle was killed in a tornado last weekend, and that just makes it so much closer to home.

Also, I love your glowing sunflower pics. They look like abstract paintings. :-)

I try to remind myself to be grateful everyday. Somedays it's a challenge but I know things could always be worse.
I can comment from my iPad!!

Amen Kim. I too am so thankful, and just heart sick for those who are suffering so much due to natural disaster. May we never get immune to the blessings that we have RIGHT NOW. For who knows what tomorrow holds...

Blessings, Debbie

Good morning Kim,
You have written such a beautiful heartfelt post, dh and I have been heartbroken at all of the devastation we have seen on the news, and have been much in prayer for them, at the same time realizing but for the grace of God, it could have been our lives that were changed in seconds. We too have begun to be more thankful. We have also felt so helpless.

You have been in my thoughts so much lately, until yesterday my computer was collecting dust ~lol~ I decided I would take some time this morning to visit, as I didn't get to last night.
Now I will go and see what you have been doing this week on your other posts.
I can't comprehend you getting snow this weekend, I will pray that it doesn't come, as you have worked so hard in your garden. Our weather patterns too are fickle.
Much love,
Sue

Thank you for the gentle reminder, Kim. We all take our blessings for granted and I don't think we're meant to do that...
