Odds and Ends of Wednesday

I just wanted to remind you that I will be picking a winner
of the box of goodies and I will announce a winner in my
Thursday post. It has been fun, I have prayed
for each one of you because I wish everyone could win.

I have either made or gown the stuff. I tried
to do that because I wanted it to be like a real farm girl box.
I will have my husband or my kids draw a name from a hat.
I could use one of those handy-dandy wigits to do it for me,
but that is not me.

I had to show you a picture of my witches standing
in my pasture. This is how my sunflowers look now.
The birds have pretty much cleaned out the giant heads
so they just stand there all sad and dejected. I am planning
on taking them out this weekend, just because it breaks
my heart to see my garden look this way.

I don't have a picture nor do I think you would want to see but
there are so many stink bugs out under the trees mating that
I am afraid for next year. Did you ever read the Laura Ingalls Wilder
book On the Banks of Plum Creek,( I think), when the locust came
and they laid their eggs? I feel like that when I see them. Next
time my pest control lady comes I am going to take her out
there and spray the ground. Since I don't have bees out there
anymore.
I still get my Newsletters from the Bee companies.
It is kinda like gardening once I get
it all cleaned up so by February I have forgotten how much work it was.
I keep thinking about the bees like that, they weren't that bad???

I hope that your Wednesday is well...Wonderful. Don't forget to leave a comment
if you want to be entered in for a farm girl box.

Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness, for His wonderful works to the children of men!

(Psalm. 107:6)

Please enter me in the drawing for your farm girl box. I somehow missed the original post! Yikes, I'm slipping!

p.s. Referring to your comment on my blog, sounding like Jane Austen is of the most honorable state to those of us who are Jane Austen junkies!Three of my four girls and I love Jane Austen's books and the movies that have been made. No matter how many times I see them, I still swoon when Mr.Darcy loses his pride and they marry.

I don't want to be entered, I just wanted to comment: the difference between the locust swarm then and now is pest control!

I'm not a big fan of having poison sprayed all over my porch where I'm going to breathe it and step in it, but out in the garden where the bugs are totally out of control? Bring it on.

The poor sunflowers do look awfully sad. I don't like bugs (at all) but I'm not sure what a stink bug is, so I'm going to google it!

hey kim

guess what? we just had an earthquake in oklahoma!
my great big ole' house just rumbled. it felt like someone
rolled a giant boulder down the second floor hall. crazy.

one of the college kids said, "this is so retarded," which
i think is a hysterical misuse of that word.

blessings,
lea

wow. your earthquake comments kind of shook me, because
before the quake, we were all shaken by a terrible suicide
of a younger brother of one of my children's friends. itmade
me wonder if the Lord wasn't thundering, as He did in psalms
18:13.

i can't believe you had an earthquake while reading about
the earthquake in acts. amazing.

Hi Kim, I am still laughing over your previous post about your hens, just to funny. I do love my chickens too.
My sunflowers look even more pitiful than yours.Aren't they the saddest looking things, how could something so sunny and pretty end up looking like that. I guess that is what will happen to me when I get old. lol
And as far as the stink bugs we are having a lot more of them too this year, and they sure do fit their name so well. lol

Please enter me for your farm girl drawing, I must have missed your post when I was away from my computer.
Thanks for always making my day.
Hugs,
Sue
