December--- Here We Go!!!

I still have a few Morning Glories. Until this week. We will have hard frost by Wednesday and everything will be gone. Am I sad? Not a bit, I am dancing around yelling, Yahoo!!! A real winter.  Cold and all of that jazz. A fire burning and cozy blankets and lots of stitching. I feel like Christmas is here!! We might even have rain.

I hope you had a lovely weekend. I have tried to keep up with your blogs but I am woefully behind. There was so much to do every day. I even made a excellent start Christmas shopping. I did manage to get some stitching done. I have been listening to Bleak House an audio book. I love stitching listening to that. Last night Ron worked on another wire tree and I started reading out loud to him. I started reading Brother Cadfael,"  A Morbid Taste of Bones, by Ellis Peters." It was so nice to read out loud. Not very Christmasy I suppose but a good story.

I was looking through my old photos of 2011, On December 1st of that year I started hooking rugs. This is my very first rug hooking project. I didn't have a wool cutter so I cut the wool with my rotary cutter and I didn't have real wool but a wool blend. All I had done was read books over and over but learning from books isn't the same and doing it.

Here is my latest rug that I really like.

I used the flash as I can't get the regular light enough. This was fun to do.

This is my second 1820 sunflower. The pattern is by Cathy Greschner at Red House Wool Studio. She is one of my favorite rug pattern designers. I tried to be bold with this rug. I don't think I will try bold anymore. I think I will continue to be safe.

I finished up some small counted cross stitch designs by Pineberry Lane.
This is one of my favorite Christmas Carols so of course I sit and try to sing very quietly as I stitch. I loved working on this pattern.

This is a simple freebie. I had so much fun just sitting and stitching this one, because I really do enjoy doing letters in counted cross stitch.

I drew out four rugs on backing too. Today on my list is to cut wool for them. As is decorating the house and cleaning and doing laundry. This morning as Ron was leaving he told me to channel the inner washer woman. I laughed and have been chucking to myself ever since. Storms coming, firewood stacked, chickens happy. What is not to be happy about on this wonderful day in December.

I hope you have a wonderful week,
~Kim~

Good morning! I am glad to hear some cold weather is coming...though I think you get much more than we do. It was 80 here yesterday. But we dip into the 40's at night so it really isn't bad. But after all the cool weather at my daughter's I got a good taste of it. I think I prefer California, lol. LOVE your rug projects. I've got a busy day planned too so guess I'd better get cracking. Enjoy your day!!

Hooray for December! Even with the baby waking me up, it's still better than being pregnant. We set up our tree and the kids want to do nothing but arts and crafts. I showed them how to cut and paste. They're in total heaven. Hubby's getting lots of hours. Everything is good. :-)

Wow Kim, No one around here gets that excited about a frost!!! (I'm laughing right now)
It is fun to see your first rug and where you are now. But don't be scared to be bold! Be bold

Wow, you are busy! Our weather has been nice and cool to cold. But it's warming up again this week and that has me not feeling very festive. That, coupled with the husband not doing his part towards the Christmas decorations so we have none up, has taken my Christmas spirit to a brand new low. Ugh. I'm working on getting it back though. I can't let others bring me down!

I think you should sing loudly while you stitch! Why keep it quiet...after all, it's almost Christmas!! Love your new cover photo...those trees are beautiful! Have a great week!

I must say that I'm happy that you are happy about winter, the cold month of December and all it brings but here where I live, I'm not so chirpy as you about the winter. It's pretty to look at but that's about it for me now. I don't like to feel cold because it pains my hand and joints and I'm afraid of breaking some brittle bones.

Your rug hooking did improved a lot and now you are like a run away train with the hooking and designing. I remember you ran out of wool for that cute rug and now it's finished. I maybe need to let go blogging for hooking. Never seem to have time for both.

Hugs,
JB

I always love seeing what you have hooked. I keep saying, 'someday'...
I believe i saw your very same crosstitch on another blog today.
she used red thread.
I wish you could pop up here for a visit and enjoy my snow with me. Wouldn't we have fun?

I am laughing...you sound like a happy puppy! I lost my morning glories a couple of weeks ago with our freeze. We were in the 70's today and will be in the low teens on Thursday night...cold for this Texas girl.
Your rugs are great...so glad you are enjoying creating with your hands...how much fun! Enjoy!!!

Hi Kim,
Love your hooked projects, and cross-stitch projects too!
I used to do a lot of cross-stitching, but I've never done any hooked projects.... they look like fun!

You are a ray of sunshine, my friend... with your sunny disposition, and happy attitude. Thank you... you inspire me :)

Have a wonderful December week!
