We have a storm coming. Since I started Bleak House, I find these passages that I go back to over and over like a Godiva Chocolate melting on my tongue, this one speaks volumes to me. " Implacable November weather...Smoke lowering down from chimney pots, making a soft black drizzle, with flakes of soot in it as big as full-grown snowflakes---gone into mourning, one might imagine, for the death of the sun."
We will have a dust storm today before the rain. This passage reminds me of how it will be when the rain comes to quiet the dust. Then the rain will usher in the fog, and then gone will be the sun.
There is just something nice knowing that maybe for good I can put away my shorts and short sleeved shirts.
It seems to get later and later each year.
I thought I would share a really easy way to make taco shells. Without frying them. I got the idea from one of my Hungry Girl cookbooks. I found if I preheat my oven to 400 degrees. Then take corn tortillas and lay them on the wire of the oven rack. Make sure you put the tortilla over two wires. Then I leave my tortilla for 9 minutes because I like mine crunchy. My husband doesn't like his that crunchy so I cook his 6 or 7 minutes. I think it works really good and my house doesn't smell like hot oil. Not to mention the calorie count doesn't change because it is still just a corn tortilla. They don't break or shatter like the ones you get out of the package at the store.
Well as my Dad used to say, " I am burning daylight," So I need to get my lazy self outside and get to walking. Have a great Thursday. Sorry I am all over the place in this post. I haven't had any thoughts in a week and my brain really doesn't know quite what to do with this new sensation. :)

your opening paragraph cracked me up. 'eat so i have personality'. ha ha!
I'm still comfort eating -probably gaining the 10lbs you've lost!!
Love the pics but then I just love trees.
Have a lovely day!
And eat a Godiva chocolate it you dare!
Christine
So you are, or aren't on a diet now? I don't care what you weigh either, and you get all crazy and weird when you don't eat enough. Plus Thanksgiving is only 2 weeks away and you can't be on a diet for Thanksgiving! ;)
Oh my, that reminds me that I was dieting a while back-not so much anymore.
I hope it works out better for you, Kim. If it does let me know you secret!
That's simply grand you are eating healthier and adding exercise to your daily routine.I can't diet myself it makes me crazzzy! Though I do try to get exercise and eat healthy.
Beautiful Photos I love trees myself! Hope the storm isn't to bad for you.
Best of luck~Cheers & Blessings Kim
ooohhh kim, you are torturing yourself!! i try not to worry about my weight, it's not like i am trying to get a date or anything!!
Hmmm...eat so you have a personality...maybe that's what I need to do! :) Your son is funny!
your ten pounds ran over to my house and tripled their weight along the way! grin, have a great day!
But they never dropped an ounce, and they decided to live here awhile! ouch!
Well, I'm glad you're feeling better today! Eat so you'd have personality, ha ha, that's funny. :-D I've been thinking about Lady Deadlock lately. Maybe I'll just see if I can watch the movie this time--darn the shaky cam! I'm sitting here freezing my tail off and the kids are running around like crazy out in the wind.
I am glad you are feeling better and it is always nice to have personality! ;-)
LOL Between your son's statement and Meg's comment, I can barely sit up straight - Laughing too hard!
Well your son is hilarious! It's all soo hard. It does seem like a hard time to start though...two weeks before Thanksgiving? Brave girl. The rain was wonderful this morning...hope the cooler weather is finally here to stay. Enjoy your day!
Hi Kim, your son 's quote made me laugh. Eat to get personality.
I wonder what I could eat to get a personality myself. Everything I crave has soy by-products in it and I can't eat it. I don't know what to eat anymore.
I think that most of us women go through a stage of gaining weight when we get older and we eat when we are stressed. Here it's called The Middle Age Spread.
You are in my prayers daily and I hope that you are feeling better with each passing days.
Hugs,
JB
My brain is acting all crazy too. I think it's ready to be out of school for Thanksgiving. We get the ENTIRE WEEK this year!!! I'm too happy about that. I'm back to working out too- week 2. It really does feel good to be back at it. I knew I missed it but I didn't know how much. Our temps are going back up into the low 70s again. Dang it. But it has been cold in the mornings and at night! I hope it continues- we need some of these bugs killed off and the thing that works best is winter freezes!
The scale has not been my friend for many weeks.:( Knees interfered with my little bit of exercise, and a two-week old sprained ankle hasn't been much help, either.:( Wishing you well, Kim!
Great post!
Wishing you the best of luck!
I love what your son said!! Too funny, and so true!!
My son always tells me that super skinny people are always mean.... 'cause they're hungry! **Heehee*
Enjoy this day...
K.
thank your son for me, I laughed out loud! I'm burning daylight is something I always say too. if you want to read something funny, check out the link on my blog entry...totally FUNNY!
Ah, the battle of the bulge. About the time I think I might actually win it, it ends up getting the better of me.
I like that idea of taco shells ... I'll have to try that.
You make me laugh! Try not to deprive yourself too much...that usually back fires on us! I joined a new gym this week...a ladies only one that I use to go to. I was going to one with my hubby, but that wasn't working so well. This one is close to work, so I can go when I get off. If I have to come home first, it is harder to get back out. Hope you have a nice weekend!
Oh my 10 pounds that fast...not me, I could starve and that 10 pounds would be holding tight...but the exercise does help my mood
Fun post..and burning daylight...heard that all my life
Have an awesome weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love the Bleak House quote.
I am in your same shoes -- eating better, taking off some weight. Just dumping sugar (let alone most carbs) really helps me. Good luck to you.
