Chats on the Farmhouse Porch

1.    What's your favorite Thanksgiving side dish? For anyone not in the US, what's your favorite fall side dish?
The cranberry sauce. I know that seems funny but I love cranberries and I like the sauce on sandwiches after Thanksgiving too.

2.    What's the first thing you do when you have a headache?
I always think it is dehydration just like you Patrice so the first thing I grab is water. I have had a migraine now for almost two weeks so I am at my wits end. I had to stop the medication so I have just suffered through them.

 3.   Do you like to "people watch"? (Observe people in public while waiting for something or relaxing)

Always, I love watching people. I have always enjoyed people so much and I love striking up conversations with strangers. The other day I had a lovely conversation walking into the grocery store with the woman who parked next to me in the parking lot. People intrigue me so I always want to talk to them and I have met the nicest people that way.

4.    Where's your family most likely to eat for a day to day meal? (Read= not holiday)

Because there are so many of us and visitors almost every day at meal times we sit at the dining room table.  We have a bar in the kitchen and a round oak table in the kitchen so it it is something easy or the kids have to be out the door we will eat there. One thing that is nice about this house, is that it has lots of places to share a meal with someone. Not to mention, there is always the tables outside on the porches.

5.    Tell me about your plans for Thanksgiving Day. Or tell me something special you will do soon.
On Wednesday, tomorrow, the girls and the kids are coming over and I hope we can discuss what we are going to be eating and doing on Thanksgiving. Because of all of the sickness I have hardly seen my grand children or the mommies so I am really looking forward to spending time with just us tomorrow. I haven't got to hold the newest baby in so long so I am really excited. All of my kids will be here for Thanksgiving and this will be Nik's first Thanksgiving with us so it will be really a wonderful day to be Thankful for all God has done and is doing.

Thanks to Patrice for having this Chat, it is our 68th. That is so awesome.

You prompted a memory with the cranberry sauce. My brother used to eat cranberry sauce sandwiches, too. He said it was nothing more than jelly!!! ;-) Thanks for the memory!!!

Sorry about your migraine. My favorite side dish is the dressing with potatoes in it and I have to have fresh cooked cranberry sauce with orange juice added. Oh so yummy...I also like it on toast at breakfast.

Hope that you feel better soon Kim.
Take care.

I could live on mashed potatoes and fresh baked rolls, no doubt about it!

I always lay done as soon as I feel the beginnings of a headache. Sometimes they turn in to migraines and I try to avoid that!

I just can't think about thanksgiving, with all the devastation here at the jersey shore!

My hubby loves his leftover cranberry sauce for a turkey sandwich. I am like you about talking to strangers. Mom was a "don't talk to strangers" advocate and Dad waved at everybody in town and called them all "Bud". He never met a stranger. My daughter says I have a sign on my forehead that reads "Talk to me and I will answer you."

You've had a migraine for two weeks? Not cool! I wonder if you have this cold, because I've had a sinus headache for three days. That'd definitely compound it.

I'm looking forward to Wednesday, too. It'll be so nice to see everybody!

I can't believe we've been doing this for that long! How the time does fly by. Everyone will be home for Thanksgiving except Deanie. But she'll be here for Christmas. I always strike up a conversation with strangers too. Which is odd since I generally don't care for people. LOL

I'm so happy you're on the porch today, and because of that, I would even share my beloved cranberry sauce with you. It doesn't matter if it's whole berry kind or jelled- both are my favorite. I do like my stuffing though. It went from 70 degrees to 39- crazy huh? Are you sure you're not getting something in your diet that spurs migraines. I totally sympathize because I used to have them. I cannot tolerate msg and I didn't know there were lots of names for it. When I finally learned what they were, I rarely have one. I'll pray yours goes away. Hugs**

I forgot all about cranberries, until you mentioned them. I love those tangy, sweet, little jokers. Have a great week :o)

I really love the turkey, stuffing, gravy and rolls. I swear I could drink the gravy from a wine glass and be as happy as a clam. Can you tell I don't have gravy very often. Have fun with all the girls planning your menu!!!
