Chats on The Farmhouse Porch 70

It is time again to visit with Patrice on her porch. I think today might be nice here on my porch. It is going to change by tonight though. Which I am okay with. I like storms.
So onto this week's questions:

1.Do you still write letters (snail mail)?

Yes I do but not as many as I used too before the computer.

2.    Do you sing?

Yes but only when no one is around.

3.    Did you participate in Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, or Cyber Monday?
Nope.

4.    How many guests can you have spend the night at your house?
  Could Wendell fit?
As many as needed shelter.  I can always make room for one more, Wendell could not, I am not set up for horses anymore.

5.    Have you ever gone fishing?

Yes, lots and lots. I enjoy fishing but not cleaning. I am more of a catch and release sort of girl.

It's nice to visit on your porch, Kim...it's too cold here to sit out on mine, and it's snowing!! Our first of the season, and the kids are excited!

Oh come on, I'm sure you could fit Wendell in the house. I like fishing too, but I haven't been in so long. Can't wait for this storm! I hope it dumps a truck load on us.

I love you header picture! I don't clean fish either - but I'll do everything else.

I hope you enjoy the coziness of the storm, Kim!
I didn't do BF, SBS, or CM either.

Kim, I bet that you sing beautifully.

Your answer on number 2 got me thinking and it reminded me of myself 30 years ago.... I had this experience one morning.
I was going shopping at the mall up the hill but found myself turning very unexpectedly in a Christian book store at the bottom of the hill. I didn't know why I had done that. I had absolutely no intention in going in this store. My initial reaction was "Well I'm here, I might as well go in to see what's here.

I went inside and looked around and this book by John Powell caught my eyes and bought it. The book laid on my shelf for quite a while until one day I started to read it.

I used to be shy about my singing until I read a book by John Powell, Why Am I Afraid to Tell You Who I Am. It changed the way I was looking at myself and made me aware at my God given gifts and and I realized that it was not up to me to criticize the gifts that were given to me or denied that I had those gifts. I certainly didn't gave those gifts to myself.

I realized that I should praise God by sharing it with others and I started to sing in the church choir as a cantor, terrified at first but not wanting to say no when I was asked to do it. At the time I didn't even know what a cantor was, lol... I couldn't believe that I was singing solo and leading the congregation and something amazing happened. I discovered that I really could sing and even discovered that I even had a vibrato voice. I was so nervous and my knees were shaking as I had no confidence in my abilities. I had always sang in a very small voice to myself so no one could hear me. That was almost 30 years ago.

Thanks for sparking a memory.
Love your answers.
