Just Checking In

Its Monday again. October is just racing by. I look so forward to it and I wish I could somehow lasso it and keep it from flying by. I hope you had a lovely weekend. I hope my Canadian friends all had a lovely Thanksgiving. It must be wonderful to have Thanksgiving in October. We have all of that Christmas stuff looming in the background of our November holiday. I think it would be so much easier to just have Thanksgiving for its self. Even in November it is one of my favorite holidays.

I sold a second rug this weekend. I am once again thrilled. In awe too. You know when I would have a baby and I would be in the hospital, and I would think, I guess I am really a mother now. Have you ever seen that sign that says. " Who are all of these children and why are they calling me Mom?"  That is me. Now that I have sold a second rug, I find myself asking, " Am I really a rug hooker?"

We have a cool down on Wednesday.  It really is a beautiful time of year and so nice for it to be so cool and opening the windows and the doors is so nice. It is nice to not hear the constant drone of the air conditioners.

I have wool soaking  so I can dye wool for a new rug I drew out this weekend. I have to wait until Peter leaves in the morning before I start with the dye. I think it is a nice smell and it doesn't bother me, but the men in the house think it is horrible. It always makes me chuckle. I think it is the vinegar smell.

Emilie came over the other day. She knows my fall wreaths have seen better days. She came in with a bag full of silk flowers she  got one of my grapevine wreaths and just as fast as could be, she made this wreath. She looked at me sideways and said, " Do you have any burlap for a bow." She knew I was going to razz her unmercifully. Which I did. She has never liked burlap. Ever. I have lots of the kind I use for rug hooking but I also had old burlap feed sacks I bought at the feed store. I cut those up into strips and she made the bow. I am so glad she has made it to the dark side... using burlap for bows.

I was just amazed. They have her designing flowers now at work. I am so thankful she can do this. She would have done all of the rest of my doors for me. I might have her do Christmas wreaths . My Christmas wreaths are so sad. She had some left over flowers and I put them in a jar, and it looked like some flowers I stuck in a jar, she added a single stem and turned it into a flower arrangement. It was awesome.

I am so glad my that I am surrounded by these people who cause me to get out of my comfort zone. I would maybe live in a cave somewhere if left to myself.
Have a lovely Monday,
~Kim~

"And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them."
Isaiah 42: 16
My verse this morning.

I just sat down for tea break and saw you posted. I love that beautiful fall wreath. It's looks so inviting. Emilie is very talented. It would take me a while to assemble a wreath. Maybe after I had assembled a dozen I'd get better at it.

I've been busy pressure washing one section of my basement. It's been so musty down there and now that the molds are out of there I can get a lot done.

For Thanksgiving I'm sharing a little meal with my husband this year. Everyone is having their own at home as everyone is so busy. It's kind of nice to just relax about the whole affair this year. Hopefully next year I'll have a big feast.

Your flowers are so pretty. We had a heavy frost yesterday and this morning, still some are blooming their little heads off.

I wish we could all celebrate Thanksgiving on the same date too. It's such a wonderful Holiday.
Hugs,
JB

Yes! I see your black rug w/flowers has sold... I had my eye on that one, but didn't act quick enough. I am sure it has gone to a loving home. Keep on hookin', I'm anxious to see what you come up with next--and I'd better act more quickly the next time!

That is a beautiful wreath! She is just amazing. Ben and the boys never like it when I cook or do anything with vinegar either. It makes them whine and complain like girls. :P

Dear Kim, I am happy for you that you are making and selling these rugs.
I need to be pulled from my comfort zone too. I probably would be living in the cave next door if it were not for my daughter.
Thank you for the verse you chose. It is especially encouraging to me. Blessings dear. Catherine

Lovely flowers, Kim, and beautiful wreath. I need a friend like that who can help my decorating-challenged self figure out how to make beautiful seasonal arrangements :)

How wonderful that you dye your own wool! Yes, it is amusing that the men don't like the odor it creates.:-) Thankful that your daughter has now learned the benefits of burlap!:-) That's a beautiful wreath. xo Nellie

Good job on selling your rug. I remember hooking a rug when I was a kid. I think it took me 4 years to finish. I'm impressed with you.

I can certainly relate to your comment about living in a cave. I know I could! Give me enough Diet Coke, quilting supplies, and some food and I could stay in that cave for a good long time. ;-)

SO happy for you that you sold another rug!
How wonderful for you :)

Love the flowers around your place.....especially those sunny sunflowers.

What a cute wreath! Emilie did a wonderful job. How nice it is that she has the talent to do floral design, and shares her talent with her momma :)
Can't wait to see what she does with your Christmas wreaths!

Have a great day!!!
