Last Week of August

At the first of the month I told you I would enjoy August and not look forward to it being over. I have had to grab myself by the scruff of the neck many times but I have managed to keep my mind on August and enjoying it better than in years past.  I will admit to looking at my pictures in my albums of these things a bit more than I should.

Just hoping for one leaf that looks like this.I find photos that make me think of the smell of pumpkin pie and apple cider and fires in the stove.

This year I won't have pumpkins to fill my wheel barrow. Some years are just like that I guess. One of the first things I have noticed that August is almost over is that the swimming pool in now too cold for me. The ground begins to cool off before the days begin to change. The bunny is getting his warm winter coat and my chickens are beginning to molt.

I was thinking of rearranging my house again and bringing my chairs back in to sit quietly before the stove. Then I have to remind myself, No, it is still August, it isn't time to bring out my fall pillows or change my colors to the warm colors I love so much. I did take down and put away all of my red, white and blue.

Yesterday I thought about putting a little pumpkin pie spice in my coffee. I don't want to rush August yet. I will admit though, I am pretty excited to greet September and each day I find myself dancing a bit in my mind knowing that fall is almost here.

Have a lovely day, I hope you can find a leaf to remind you of Autumns of the past.

I hate to be rushing time but I am so looking forward to September/October. The changing leaves, the funky scarves, chunky sweaters, comfort foods and lets not forget BOOTS. Just a few more days Kim. We can hang on ;)

I think I can tell that you did GOOD this August, Kim! I'm glad you're not rushing it though. Mind you, those pictures of pumpkins and fall leaves are so pretty!

I love this post, my sentiments as well, no home grown pumpkins here this year either, Kim, both dh and I have noticed the leaves beginning to change as well as the cool crisp mornings. Fall is soon upon us, and then I will be saying, "slow down, stay awhile." ~smile~ Always a joy to visit.

How I long for fall, the pumpkins, wearing a jacket, etc. I have can of pumpkin in my pantry. I hear "pie" calling my name.

Oh, me too! I know September is deceptive out here--it's usually hotter than August--but there's the idea that fall is coming. I look forward to doing school with the door open and apple cider on the stove.

We have had cooler mornings, giving a hint of the fall that is to come. This has been such a rainy time in our area this year that I wonder how the leaves will be when they begin to turn.

I love those autumn aromas, though - pumpkin pie, apple cider, and a fire in the fire pit outside!

Lovely, sublime, aah, August, while the ceiling fans whirl, and the air conditioner purrs in the window, I remind myself of the katydid the dog found on our morning walk, and the smell of cooking apples on the stove yesterday
Contentment is sometimes so fickle, it seems to most always beckon me into some moment I am not in. September and October are the most golden months for me, I admit. But the transition month of August must have her say, for yet a few more days at least!

I usually look forward to the milder temperatures of fall but its been so mild this summer that it already feels like fall most mornings and evenings. I will squeeze every last bit of summer out though. Still taking my coffee or tea out on the deck, watching the wildlife around me. Hope your week is a good one

I know it's coming because the trees are a darker, less vibrant green and it just feel different outside. I can't wait for fall! It's my favorite of the seasons. :)

I have a tree that looks like that ... but it's not a good thing as it's way too early for the leaves to turn and dry up. :-(

I've noticed the coolness in the evening and morning and also the fog in the morning. Darkness comes early and I'm scrambling to get things done outside after supper before darkness. Sadly, I'm not ready for Fall yet but I do love it when the leaves turns color. I miss the length of daylight but I love the cooler temperatures. We just can't have it all at the same time.

Hugs,
JB

Leaves are falling here like it is already fall! We have had some cool nights in the 60's and highs in the 80's during the day. Unheard of for us in Aug! This has been an unusual summer! So, how was your first day of no school? I'm sure that is going to take some getting use to!
