Just Hangin' Out

In August, I have this strong desire to rip out all of my garden. Just to get rid of the weeds and the bugs and get ready for winter. I always think that I will plant a winter garden this time of year. I never do though. In the past I was putting on my teacher hat and my attention was on the coming school year.

But not this year. This year will have to be different. I had told my grand sons we would have a sleep over before school started. They reminded me the other day that their school was getting ready to start. So last night was a sleep over at Grandma and Grandpa's house.

We did lots of things. They talked to their cousins on Skype. Then they ate hamburgers and had Popsicles for dessert. Then they played in the pasture and ran fast around the trees. We went swimming as the sun was setting and then came in and watched a Spiderman cartoon because they told me they always watch Spiderman. I told them this morning, I thought I would talk to Mom about it.

Then we set up the tent in the livingroom.

They brought their sleeping bags and pillows and got to camp out in the living room. Ever faithful Sasha wanted to sleep out here with them.
I don't know how well they slept, but I bet they take good naps today.

They had waffles for breakfast and at 7:00 A.M. they wanted popcorn. I gave them dried cranberries.
We will be going for a walk soon, as soon as Chip and Dale is over. We need to feed the chickens and look at the garden.
Life is good, but I bet I take a good nap too.

~Happy Sunday~

Good times. Had to laugh about the Spiderman. I have had my grandkids tell me they were allowed to do something before that I wasn't so sure about. I always say "well, let me call and just make sure about that." The story usually changes then. lol

It sounds like a wonderful sleepover and I love the tent in the livingroom. What fun it must have been for the kids and a little time alone for mom and dad.

Oh my, ripping out the garden so soon. I feel bad about the weeds but we have them too. My lawn has been overtaken by creeping charlies and it's a loosing battle because I don't want to use banned herbicide on my lawn and that's the only thing that will get rid of them. As long as crepping Charlie is green, I'll put up with him. lol.

Now what would you plant for a winter garden? I think it a good idea. It feels like fall here in the morning already and usually August is our hottest and our lawns usually turns brown in places.

My husband said that it will be 11 c. tonight and that's 51.8 F. and 9C. in the morning and that's 48.2 F. Right now it's 23 C. or 73.4 . The weeds and the grass is absolutely going crazy. I can't keep up cutting and pulling. We are having way too much rain and I feel so sorry that you are not getting enough .

Take care and I hope that you have a good week.
Hugs,JB

Thank you so, so much for keeping them last night! They had a blast, they have been talking about spiderman and pinball. Munch fell asleep in the car, and we put them down when we got home and I haven't heard a peep. I think they all crashed. :)

What sweet memories you made with those grand kids. They will never forget last night and getting to sleep in the tent. A great investment of time and energy.....

Is it chilly there? It is here, seems like September and not August and I'm wearing a jacket. One night, last week, I wore a flannel nightgown to bed.
waaaaahhhhhhhh! too cold too soon.
