Today on Tuesday

How are you this good Tuesday? I hope your morning is as beautiful as this morning is today. The garden was filled with the golden glow of summer. The perfect, cloudless blue sky above me, really has that quality that I love about October. I know this was a summer I was afraid of because of all of the drought talk and I have to say, it has been just lovely.

I have to tell you about an exercise I did yesterday in my Bible Study. Some where this summer I lost my footing. I hadn't noticed, but I was focusing more on negatives than positives. The problem, was I hadn't noticed.
I got out the book I have been doing called Calm My Anxious Heart by Linda Dillow.

The first thing to do was to write out this passage from Philippians 4: 6-8

6 In nothing be anxious; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honorable, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Then after reading to write out all of the positives that were going on in my life. Now at the beginning. I wouldn't have said there were any positives at all. NOT-A-SINGLE-ONE!
I started writing and they came to my mind as fast as I could write. Which surprised me.

The next exercise was to write out all of the negatives. Which before I did this I am sure I might have had page after page of negatives. All of sudden my mind went blank, I had to sit and really think about the negatives. I had just written all of the positives and there were so many that all of the negatives were gone.
I did come up with two, but they are God things. I just gave them over to Him in prayer. My whole attitude was changed.

Then because it was so fun, I sat and wrote lots more positives. Things that I had failed to notice or even be thankful for because of not seeing the forest for the trees.

Here are a few pictures from this weekend.

Tractor Rides with Grandpa

So that is how Tuesday morning is today.

Have a glorious Tuesday!
~Kim~

" For though the fig-tree shall not flourish, Neither shall fruit be in the vines; The labor of the olive shall fail, And the fields shall yield no food; The flock shall be cut off from the fold, And there shall be no herd in the stalls:

Yet I will rejoice in Jehovah, I will joy in the God of my salvation.

Jehovah, the Lord, is my strength; And he maketh my feet like hinds' feet, And will make me to walk upon my high places."
Habakkuk 3: 17-19

So many things to be grateful for :)
I like your attitude of gratitude, and that you took the time to re-focus on the positive.

Cute Grands!! Fun to ride on the tractor with Grandpa.

Thanks for the reminder of finding the positive in our lives. and surprising how thinking changes the heart. One exercise I like to do is finding God in all things. It was one of St Ignatius exercise.

Have a beautiful week. Wave at Grampa for me and the lucky kid on the tractor.
Hugs,
JB

Oh I'm so glad you got pictures! They were so excited, and spent all of Saturday talking about riding the tractor with grandpa. I'm so glad you were able to find positive things and get rid of the negative. That's so hard sometimes, but it changes the world!

Those verses in Philippians are some of my very favorite ones and ones I have memorized so that I can say them over and over and remind myself where my peace comes from. Dwelling on the positives in our lives is just something we ALL NEED to do everyday. Set our minds on Him....I like the idea of writing them all down....think maybe I will do that in the morning. Hope the rest of your day went well!
