Now July

July is here. One more day and I  get to see my family. One-more-day!! My mind just won't settle down. Groceries to buy, food to make. Lots and lots of things to do. Yesterday I cleaned and washed windows. The boys upstairs were cleaning and getting things just so. It is so nice to have this to look forward to and to make plans.

July is off to a grand start. 107 today. There was no coolness to the morning. It is okay though. The garden will grow. I picked okra this morning. I have to admit, I am not a happy camper. What the heck!!! My arms look like I got into a ant hill, I itch like crazy and I stink like I got sprayed by a skunk!
Who in the world ever ate this stuff? I have never grown it and by the looks of all I picked it is gong to be one long summer.

I am just gong to bag it up and call Emilie on the phone and tell her to come get this stuff for Nik. I will have to pick more than this in the morning I think. I know why I never see it in the store.

I have to go get all my errands ran early today. I was going to write more but the essence of skunk, is driving me crazy.
Have a wonderful day,
~Kim~

" Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.
Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be gererous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life."

You crack me up .. *smile*.
I've never tried okra.. I've always been told that it has a slimy, gooey texture. Never did seem appetizing to me, I guess.

I'm super happy for you that you will see all your kiddo's tomorrow!!! Enjoy every single minute of their visit :)

I'm packing and cleaning and doing laundry! We're so excited! The kids are bouncing off the walls. I can't wait to get there and jump in the pool after that long, hot drive. :-)

Ha! Could you be allergic? I'm allergic to something that hangs in the air in late June through early July. Scratch! Scratch!
I'm so excited for you! xo

Being itchy and smelling skunk ~ not a good combo ~ hope the itching lets up and you find that skunk remedy.

Those sunflowers are looking fabulous ~ glad to see the parrots didn't eat them all !

I have tasted fried okra but I didn't like. I didn't notice it smelling though., :-) Enjoy visiting with your family!

What an experience... I think you're supposed to wear gloves to pick Okra as the leaves are prickly. I has okra in soup years ago.

Enjoy your family and have a great 4th of July celebration and take pictures please.
Hugs,
JB

Okra...hmmm...never had it, and to be honest, I don't think I have the need to try it, either! Maybe the chickens would eat it! :) Have fun with your family!!

Kim, we LOVE okra here! Our favorite way is to fry it, but I have pickled it in years past, plus included it in gumbo. I know you are excited about tomorrow! xo Nellie

I forgot to tell you, you have to wear long sleeves... I will take lots of okra from you! We love to fry it. It's like popcorn. ;)

Okra is vicious! I have heard that it's good fried, but I never had any desire to try to eat the stuff after I helped my sister out one time picking the pods off her plants. The only way I've ever seen it cooked was steamed or boiled and it was slimy! No thanks!
