This week, my I Pod died. I knew it was going to be soon and I thought I could man up and go about my business. I tried, I really tried to not think of it. Then it was over with and no more music going on in my head. I am challenged when it comes to technology. I have a dumb phone. I finally learned how to use our remote so the grands wouldn't think things about their granny. My new I pod though has a touch screen. I cannot not get this touch screen. So my I pod keeps doing things and playing things and I just stare at it and wonder why a touch screen has to be so time consuming. I know it will take awhile to feel at home with it. I didn't buy the big one but this tiny little thing that looks like a toy.
I found out something though, I can work harder and longer and not get as tired as when I am listening to voices in my head. Such First world problems right?
The black berries are starting to get ripe. This is the first year that this vine has produced. I think I would like to try making black berry jam. I have never made that kind before.
We have some baby yellow squash. I am so excited. It has been about 4 years since I have been able to grow it. I am watching it like a hawk, making sure that no bugs get it first.
I finally have some sunflowers. They look so pretty out there in the garden. I am seeing lots of different kinds of bees. Some I have never seen before. This poor little bee, looked like it has flown its wings off.
I have done some sewing and rug hooking. Here are the two rugs I have been trying to hook.
This one again, just because I love the pattern so much. I love all of the different motifs that are in it and it just comes out so pretty I think it is one of my favorites.
I bought this little rug pattern from that sweetest lady in the world,
Cathy Greschner. ( The Orange Sink) This pattern is called "Long May She Wave." I started it late yesterday afternoon and I love this size rug because it hooks up so fast. Not to mention it is just fun.
I just finished this too. When it just gets to hot to do anything I pick up my little stitchery projects. This one was such fun to do. I liked the colors and the sheep.
This is from my new favorite designer,
Shelly Auen. Primitive Stitchin.
I thought you might like to see some mud ball progress. I thought they had decided to not do it anymore but they have started working on it again. Since every time we have company the question that gets asked is " Can we see the mud ball?" It has now got so big that every time they put new mud on they expect it to split. It is now like that game I played as a kid, " Pick up Sticks." Now it is " When will the mud ball implode."
One of my sons birthdays is on Friday the Thirteenth. There is also a full moon that won't be on a
Friday the thirteenth until 2049. I always like things like that. He thinks it is special because he says " it is like getting a present from God."
Anyway, just some of the things going on around here. I hope you have had a nice week. It was ten degrees cooler this morning, so it is wonderful.
Until next time,
~Kim~

Your Morning Glory flowers are so spectacular. I planted some near a post a few years ago but something ate them before they got growing, probably earwigs.
I can't imagine hooking in your hot weather but then I don't have air conditioning. Your rug looks great and so does your cross stitch.
I'm so glad that you showed us that mud ball. Whoa!!! that's some MUD BALL. It must weigh a lot by now. I like your son's dedication to this long term project. I hope it makes it into the Guinness Book Of World Records.
I don't even have an iPod and I wouldn't know what to do with it either. When I want to listen to music I still put a CD in my computer, or in my Boom Box, haha. I'm not much of a techie.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Hugs,
JB
You make me smile.
Saying you have a 'dumb phone'. Me too :)
I never even turn mine on, unless we are traveling.
I always 911 my kids whenever I need something technological done... for instance, music put on my mp3 player, speakers hooked up, etc... etc..
They just shake their heads, chuckle and ask me what I want, then do it for me.
Great mud ball!! Hope it doesn't crack and I hope they are able to make it as big as a car :)
Happy birthday to your son. Quite a thing to have all that come together on the calendar. Cool!
Love your handiwork projects. Beautiful work, and such darling patterns.
Have a happy day, my friend.

so cute to see the mudball again! love all your stitching and rugs.
and i'd love to come over for some blackberry cobbler, darn it! :)
Yum! Blackberry jam! We've made that before, but not in recent years. Our blackberries have just finished blooming, so we are awhile away from having any to pick.
Touch screens are supposed to make life easier - aren't they?:-)
Love your needlework projects!
Happy birthday to your son! As I was born in 1940, it is very unlikely that I will be around for the next full moon/Friday 13th combo. I will really have to find a way to celebrate this once-in-a-lifetime event!

Afternoon, neat mud ball, so round....I love all your hooking and stitchery, so wonderful. The flowers too are so so pretty, I adore Morning Glory's,ma blessings Francine.
Your garden is looking wonderful!! Blackberry preserves or blackberry cobbler, both sound good!
Your garden is looking great and that mud ball is something! Your rugs are looking good! I started crocheting a throw while I was in Tenn, but have only worked on it one evening since I've been home. I have to sit under the ceiling fan because it is a little warm holding it in my lap. I really think crocheting is a winter art!! :-)
I have not entered the world of ipods and cell phones. I still talk on the phone in the house, listen to cd's, I do have a mp3 player hooked up to a small mini speaker that we can take with us in the car, cause our tape player does not work. Otherwise I listen to the radio a lot in the car. I still have my desk computer, Ipads, and such have passed me by.
Black berry jam sounds good. Send some my way Pleeeeease?!?!!?! Your garden is looking great...I am just going for tomatoes, onions and cucumbers. That's about all that grows around my house. And flowers, apple trees, rhubarb, chives, winter onions, strawberries and lemon-mint that will soon choke out the strawberries.
I hope you get used to your new iPod! They are kind of arcane, but very nice once you get used to the voodoo required. I made a batch of blackberry jam today. I'd been saving berries for weeks now, and I had a giant bag of blackberries in my freezer. Now it's six jars of pretty jam! I'm considering raspberry next. :-)
Oh the difference .... you love that it's 10 degrees *lower* ... I would LOVE for it to be 10 degrees *warmer*!!
My dh has an ipod, and he is absolutely NOT technologically minded, but he loved his ipod and finds it so easy to use. The funny thing is that if he sits with me at my laptop, he'll put his fingers on the screen to change something and then wonders why nothing is happening!!

Oh nice! You will get used to it, and then you won't know how to go back to just regular buttons. I think when the boys are done with the mudball, they should drill a hole into the core and stuff it with some kind of explosive. Well, I guess they'd have to move it to the middle of the pasture first instead of right by the fence. ;)
Recently I got a new SamsungS5 phone. Then I bought Samsung5 for Dummies. It has simple wording, and photos. But I was worn out, just like you. No blackberries!
I don't have an I Pod. and if I did, my kids would laugh at me when I'd learn to use it! To think that there weren't even computers, or cell phones when we were kids...we must be old! :) Just kidding, we're NOT old!
I just love blackberries! Yum! And I was wondering if there was going to be a 2014 mud ball.
Hello, Sweetie Pie! The mud ball is very impressive!
Happy birthday to your good boy! I hope he eats lots of cake!
Your rugs are glorious! They are so happy! LOVE!
I have an idea for a shawl for my mama, so I might knit today. I have so many things I want to do and one of them is sitting at my computer and enjoying good friends like you!
(BIG HUG!)
blackberry whatever...YuM!!!! i should really grow some!!
your needle work looks great, i was really happy you shared it today!!
and the mudball, again, what can i say......it looks familiar!!!
My iPod died recently too and I've been missing my music and audiobooks so much. I've noticed that I pray and sing hymns more often in the silence, but I still miss it.
LOVE LOVE LOVE blackberries. Think you are really going to enjoy having them, and the jam should be just delish. The mud ball is hilarious and I can just imagine the attention it would bring. Enjoy your week-end!
That mud ball is AMAZING !
I want to have pumpkin plants as lush as those in your banner. wow ! ;)
Maybe if it stops raining for a bit and the sun beats down !

The mud ball! I had forgotten all about it! Thanks for the update. I gave up on getting veggies to grow. The fill dirt we got a few years ago is just bad. I did decide to try flowers this year and they are growing nicely!
