All of the kids and grand kids will be home around the 4th of July. Our oldest son Ben, wanted to have a trial run as he wants to cook on the Fourth. Every one who lives in town came over for a very fun afternoon on Sunday. The food was fantastic and the company top notch and the day was filled with laughs.
Ben made the barrel to cook on and I thought it was really nice. I enjoy watching him cook. Megan did the work too and I sat around and just enjoyed myself. We had home made ice cream for dessert.
This is Mr. Munchie. He was standing next to my chair and his Auntie Em was sitting next to me. She took a piece of ice and rubbed it on his bare back. He couldn't decide whether he liked it or not. he turned and got in his Mom's lap and looked at me with this grumpy look because he was mad at me for putting the ice on his back. He said, " Granny did it." I had to work to get that smile out of him. I should have pushed his Auntie Em's in the pool. He is the only one to call me Granny, it makes me laugh.
Now that it is hot, the garden is really growing. So are the weeds. It will be a battle from here on out. I only have a couple rows of pumpkins to weed in the morning. There is that phrase, then I will be caught up in the garden. I know I will never be caught up out there.
I am playing house today, changing out my spring flowers for summer ones and hanging summer wreaths and all that fun stuff that I really do enjoy.
I hope you have a wonderful week.

I love Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm.
When you finish with Ben, I need him here.
Den is no longer able to weld. He is talking about having the doctor's take his ICD out when they have to change the battery.
Glorious rain is falling. We are blessed.
you made my mouth water on the food and cooking/grilling! your son is very talented - shoot, you have a great deal of talent in your entire family!
A great post Kim, what a lot of fun when the young are taking over the cooking. It all sounds so good and it fun seeing the family sitting outdoors and talking and laughing.
You really have a talented family. Your son Ben is like my brother Leo. He makes anything and everything out of metal and he sells lots of it.
Take care and enjoy yourself and embrace life to the full.
Hugs,
JB
That looks so fun! I can't wait until our visit!
It's so hot today, like 108. The fires up by Flagstaff send smoke down here in the afternoons, and that makes it hotter.
Busy Busy Busy. Caught Up? Never! Always one more thing to do...or something new to start...or finish. ~grin~ You are one busy woman, that's for sure. xo
You sure have been busy! And old disc?! What a great idea!! I'll have to pass it along to my nephew, who welds. I would love to hand around your family...it sure sounds like you have lots and lots of fun together!
Well it looks like you have a good holiday. It's soo nice to have the kids don the cooking isn't it? LOVE carne asada. Let me know if you figure out how to catch up. It's not happened over here yet. Jam looks sooo good! Hope the rest of your week is a good one!
I'm so glad you had all that family fun! We did, too! We went to see James when we got home from the mountains. Aw! He's such a cutie pie! I'm so swamped at school. Argh!
Your Hula hoe will help you weed the pumpkins, Granny.
ooohhhh Kim, I hope we never get caught up, never, not ever!! Our life's are way better this way!!
Looks like an awesome family get together!!
Sounds like a fun day! And I don't think we ever get caught up...there is always one more thing to do! :-)
That sounds like such a great day. It was really 100?? I hate to tell you but it's been so cold the last few days we have had to have the furnace on
Wow, what a cool BBQ barrrel ... and wok! 100? Even I, who considers the 60's as too chilly to be outside, would have to draw the line at 100 degrees! Of course, when it's 100 degrees here, the humidity is usually 95% or higher so it's really way too uncomfortable to be outside. Sounds like you all had a wonderful weekend!
Hi Kim.
No, I guess we never really do get caught up~~*smile**. Though we try!!
Great cooker your son made!! Love the wok too.
My dad was a journeyman welder, and he could make such fantastic things!! I know what you mean about having some wish list of things, for your son to make~~LOL!
My goodness, but it has been a hot year so far. I have quite a lot to do around the borders on this house, and I'm just getting started. I'm not sure if we'll get a pumpkin patch planted or not.
Have a happy week.

I will never get over my boys having married and moved away where they are very busy working on their own houses and making things for their own families. I'm proud of them and so glad they are doing what they do, but I miss having them here to make things for me. It's been a long time.
Parties are the best. Munchie is adorable and I bet a real character. Its amazing that Ben can make all that he does. He definitely has an artist flair. I've watch the you tube video of him playing his music from Meg's Blog. Soooo talented.
