July 1st

I can't believe today is the first day of July. My son said last night, that he totally missed June and feels like he woke up and it was July. I kind of felt like that. For a week now, I have been trying to make a flag. I thought it would be a simple project. It wasn't. I painted and repainted and sanded and started over so many times that by last night I was ready to burn it for firewood. I decided that enough was enough and I hung it this morning.

Here is a picture of it in my living room.

The first time I saw this was when I was on my Smallville kick during the winter. One like it hangs in Clark's loft in the barn. Then I saw one in the Pottery Barn catalog but with the points cut off the grade stakes.
I wanted one with the pointy ends. Then the blue part gave me just fits. I am pretty happy with it now looking at the picture. Now that I finally got it together I might try one without the wood stain.

I did a small flag with the scrap wood with no stain. I kind of like it but being a fan of the junky wood look it is different for me.

Now I think I will just do inside projects. Like sewing and hooking and things like that. Here is how it looks on my hutch.

My son got a job working for a guy that does decals among other things. I asked if his boss would let him make stencils. He asked and the guy said he could. So I am so excited that my son will make words for me now with a stencil cutting machine. The machine is a huge commercial one so it should be fairly easy is what my son said. I can't wait.

I finished my cow rug and now it has a new home. I am afraid that once I got that money in my hot little hand I might go crazy and start a Etsy store. It felt so nice to be able to have money I made to buy my own materials. Ron never ever minds, but you know it is the principal of the thing.

It is Monday, a hot Monday. 110 is what the weatherman said. Not to hot too sew though. I think what gets me the most is the chickens come to me almost crying it seems like and all I can do is give them cold water. The bunny stays draped over the ice bottles. Two of the hens laid eggs in the flowerbed next to the porch.

It will feel like a nice cool day when it finally drops to 100 degrees.

Stay cool where ever you are, Happy July!

~Kim~

Too bad the chickies can't go for a swim in the pool! I'm in the middle of a project that's giving me a fit too. But my problem is that I don't know what I'm doing. LOL Your flag turned out fantastic! Not that there was ever any doubt on my part. :)

I took Sunshine out for a spin around the neighborhood and when I got back to our driveway I just rode around in circles thinking, "It's JULY!"
I am so sorry that the chickens are so hot! I don't suppose they like being sprayed with the hose, do they?
You SHOULD open an Etsy shop. I have heard it's not hard at all and your cool stuff would fly off the "shelves" for sure!
Do it!
I'm off to buy crafty stuff for Granny Camp part 2.

I love your flag and it turned out great.
Good for you for selling your beautiful cow rug. I think that I would have difficulty in selling my rugs.

Poor little chickens in that heat , they probably would love a solar powered air conditioner.

Happy 4th of July.
Hugs,
JB

I LOVE the flag! It looks wonderful there! And your cow rug came out so nicely. You sound like I would should I ever sell anything I made. I do feel badly for your poor chickens. I can hardly bear to walk outside from my air conditioned house to get into my air conditioned car. It is only in the 90's here, but the humidity is melting us. Enjoy your day Kim!

What's that you say? The chickens are laying hard boiled eggs? lol! 110 sure is hot! Love the wood flags you are creating!

I think the points on the flag give it a little sense of movement! Very nice project....I love wooden things. July 1st means preparing our house for a picnic for the 4th. Today I was up on a chair sweeping cobwebs off our high ceilings!

I like your flags. I tried to make one out of corrugated tin, but I just didn't like how it looked so I threw it back in the dump. The cow rug turned out cute. 110 is VERY HOT! I hope you'll stay cool and sew up something fun.

I like all your flags! The pointy one looks really cool. That's funny that it was on Smallville. It makes me want to go back to Hobby Lobby and take pictures of all their wooden thingies, because it's all the stuff you love. It made me homesick just looking at it.

Hope you're staying cool! I saw a picture of how someone had dumped a bag of ice on the patio, and their bulldog was laying in it, all spread out. I think that's a good idea.

Oh! I hope you have relief from this heat soon! I just don't do well at all in heat!

I love the flags you have done! Your work is excellent!

June went too fast for me too!
Your flag turned out so nice, just in time too.
Oh, I could think of all kinds of signs. I bet you can too. Have you seen the Amazing Grace cross on pinterest yet? You could do it as a sign.
I sure hope your animals make it through the heat.
I had to chick sit for my FIL once and I lost several chicks to the heat. They kept hiding under the ramp and then suffocated there.
We had a perfect lo 70's day here today.
Take care-Kimberly

The cow rug is another stunner. I don't know how you do it all. I know you are modest and say you don't, but you seem to always be busy. That is such a wonderful trait. My husband is like that.

This is my first time to your blog I love your flag! I just made one out of pallet wood and hung it in my living room as well. I wanted to make one with fence stakes similar to yours for my perennial garden. Thanks for sharing.
