This was how the garden looked this weekend before we took it out. It always makes me so mad at myself that the heat comes and then my garden turns into this. Weeds every where. That is when I always wish I was like Mr. Mcgregor.
This is how it looks today.
We left the herb garden in because some of these plants need two years or more to grow. The funny thing about some of the herbs we planted they look like giant weeds themselves.
My two youngest sons have spent the summer making a mud ball. My youngest son has researched on Guinness records and there is no category for a mud ball. So they are trying to make the largest mud ball in the world.
I made Sasha sit next to it so you could see how big it is now. It has gotten so big they can hardly move it now. They were asking me what was going to happen when it started raining. They were telling me maybe they could move it up on the porch or maybe buy a tarp to cover it. They go out every day or so and add more mud. It is a very impressive mud ball.
It has taken all summer to grow this egg plant. I planted the seeds pretty late. I didn't think there was much difference from a store bought egg plant and a home grown one. I bought one at the store and after being used to the ones we grow it was such a sad disappointment. The ones I go out and pick and then bring into the house and cut them up for dinner there is no smell nor are the seeds hard and the insides are nice and white. The one I bought at the store was already brown on the inside when I cut it. I decided I would just keep growing my own.
This is just a odds and ends post. Have a great Thursday!

Wow! That's a huge mudball! Very clever for them to try that! Looking at your pic of the garden made me realize just how fast the growing season flew by... nothing beats fresh from the garden... another noticeable difference is with lima beans. Almost tastes like a different bean! lol! Now you have me wanting an eggplant parmesean sandwich for lunch... ;-)
Hi Kim, You've got some talented sons. I hope they are able to continue through the winter. Your garden is so huge; loved seeing your eggplant. I've never gotten the taste for this vege but I bet if it is fresh it is so good. I hope to pull all of my flowers & weeds tomorrow when it is a cool 73 degrees.
Have a great day!
Hugs, Noreen
I just got an eggplant yesterday. It is teeny tiny. What should I do with it?? PS That mud ball would have been toast yesterday. I think we got 85 mm of rain.
nice mudball and a very pretty eggplant!!
the mudball makes me laugh!
Wow, all summer making a mud ball... Your boys are quite the ingenious pair. They started with a plan and kept with it. I hope that they make it in the Guinness book of world record.
My daughter grows eggplants but I don't. She makes something that she calls Babaganouch or something like that.
Your post is not as odd as mine was yesterday and I didn't expect people to make sense of it and leave comments but my sweet friends left a comment just the same. Thanks guys.

Holy cow that that mudball is huge! That would be hilariously awesome if they actually got into Guinness.
If that mud ball makes it into the Guinness Book of World Records, we'll be able to say we saw it first! :)
Your garden looks like it's now ready for a well deserved rest. Now that we had some rain to loosen the roots of all those weeds I have, I'd better get out there and clean mine up!
The mudball is awesome!! :-)
That is a huge mudball. I hope it doesn't crack to bits next time they try to move it. The dirt is awfully sandy. Alas for the garden, but it is September! Are you doing a winter garden this year, or just doing herbs?
I have to say, that's the most impressive mud ball I've ever seen! I hope they don't decide they need to bring it in the house though. LOL Our garden is all gone too. But it's just as well because it's too hot to go out and tend to it.
What a mud ball! Hope your boys get a new world record!
Christine
Cool mud ball- yes, you have to protect that thing from the rain- at least they didn't ask you to bring it in the house!
That's a very nice mud ball! I don't think I've ever seen a mud ball before!
Sasha is such a nice girl. Give her a treat from Pom Pom, okay?
You guys are such swift farmers. You work fast and hard!
Happy Thursday, Kim!
Boys..
how wonderful, and inventive they are!
Tell them I think it's a great mud ball, and they are on their way to a record :)
Nice to have the garden put to bed for the winter, I'm sure.
Enjoy this day .
