The Simple Woman's Daybook

FOR TODAY

Outside my window... We have a storm front coming in from the Gulf of Alaska. It is cold and crisp, and smells like snow. It makes me so happy when it feels like this outside.

I am thinking...Of all of the things I can do inside today, sitting in front of a fire, with the teapot gently steaming
ready to make tea.
I am thankful...That it is Sunday. I love Sundays when they are like this, and the day is so pretty.

In the kitchen...It is all clean from the kids game night, breakfast dishes are in the dishwasher. There is the sound of the quiet hum of the dishwasher.

I am wearing...My pajamas. :)

I am creating...I want to start some rug hooking projects I drew out two weeks ago. Today seems like a good day to start.

I am going...I have to go to Lowe's with my husband today. He needs to go walk around the garden shop, and I do have a list of wood I need to get because, I will admit it, I have some ideas for projects that I want him to do. :)

I am wondering...If we will just get clouds and no rain, it doesn't matter though, I am okay with either one.

I am reading...Not much right now.

I am hoping...That this next week is a nice one.

I am looking forward to...the routine of the kids who are in college going back to school. My son who has graduated getting a job and being in the real world.

I am learning That when I pray, God, please make my paths straight, and give me wisdom and let me go only in the ways you have for me, then when I get there, doing what He says, is the absolute best, even if I don't understand. Walking by faith in trust  of the one who only does me good and not evil.

Around the house...We got the whole place cleaned yesterday. Around the whole yard, the driveway, outside the fences. Ron planted 5 trees, it was a good day. After a day like that, it is nice to sleep.

I am pondering...How different life is from living in a neighborhood, to living out where there is always so much work, and how much happier I am when my plate is full...to the brim.

A favorite quote for today...Jesus learned obedience by the things which He suffered, not by the things which he enjoyed. In order to fit you for His purposes both here and in eternity, He has lent you this sorrow. But He bears the heavier end of the Cross laid upon you!
 (Keep a Quiet Heart, p.78)

One of my favorite things...is looking at sewing patterns, new floss, seed catalogs, raking leaves, a clean house, walking down the aisles at Lowe's or Home Depot. The smell of new wood. Laughter filling my house.

A few plans for the rest of the week: Get the house cleaned, sewing projects finished.

A peek into my day...Today will be a nice one, watching Ron cut up the wood for my next project, sewing my January Word Play, Starting my rooster  rug. Then BBQ ing chicken on the smoker, because it smells like camping while drinking coffee, with my best friend.

I want to thank Peggy for always having the Daybook up and running.
For helping me to see the simple things in life make me happy.

Sounds like a really nice day! I like Dad's video, too. I had to look up air layering to figure out what in the world he was trying to do.

The wind is roaring here today, and we've had storm clouds for two days, but still no rain. The mountains are covered in a new layer of snow though, and they look beautiful :)

I loved your quote!!
Stay cozy :)

Meaningful quote... a reminder of how he always cares for us. Sounds like a nice Sunday.I'm doing some sewing, too...mostly mending, hemming, etc. It will be nice to get caught up with it!

Kim, something must be up with blogger, I have been unable to comment on your blog and also a few other blogs. Some say they have been removed when I know they have not! Please know I have been reading and keeping up with you! Looking forward to seeing your rooster rug, and also the projects you have waiting for your husband. Today I had my husband painting the kitchen countertop while I cleaned closets, it is the month for purging!!! and Weight Watchers LOL Blessings, Julie.

I love my house filled with laughter, too.

It sounds like you are having a cozy day! Enjoy!

I love your photo of the trees next to the fence. It almost looks like a heart has been carved in the dirt by the first one!
