I miss flowers |
my house to speak of I miss them with kind of an ache. In a normal year, sunflowers, planted by the birds would be coming up at least somewhere but this year none at all.
My Black-Eyed Susans got so out of control this last summer that
I cut them back and thinned them out. Now not even a tiny bloom. I am having a severe case
of missing flowers. I was looking at my pictures and I guess I am crazy about flowers.
I have started planning my garden. Yes, every thing in me keeps yelling, " No garden." You have
a house to paint and railings to paint and lots of jobs that need to be done to the house.
But I have this idea for a herb garden, so it keeps creeping in and then I want to plant some more
blood orange trees, and some more Avocado trees, and then I want at least 20 more boysenberry
canes, thorn-less this time. I think I would even like another Meyer Lemon tree and a lime. I am really
liking limes this year. ( You know what that means when I say, I want, translates to more work for
my husband right?)
Bachelor buttons I miss you. |
Oh Four O'clock's , return to me. |
The warm weather that feels like April doesn't help much either. I am glad I have this pictures
to look at now.
Of course, a new baby in March to look forward to and new chicks in May. So many good things
to think about.
Off to go on my walk now, Have a wonderful day.

Oh come on. All you have to do is plant seeds and they will grow by themselves while you paint. Whoops, probably shouldn't have said that. ;)
I have been getting all the seed catalogs in the mail and I keep thinking "Why are you doing this to me?!?" It makes me want to plant so badly. Miss flowers too. Although our little creeping violet thing in the front has sprouted it's tiny purple flowers.
Where I live it is pointless and cruel to start dreaming about flowers until late March. You might (if you are lucky) see a tuplip sprout sometime in April!
I get that achy feeling. When we lived in apartments, I used to crave a back door that led out to a yard. I know I would miss that most of all if/when I have to leave my house.
We haven't a hope of sunny flowers for a couple of months yet!
Oh so pretty. Flowers? I miss them lots...but we won't even think of seeing any until MAY!!!!!
I know what you mean; I miss them too...but no planting for many months for us here in NC......just wishing over the catalogs....
I know what you mean. This warm weather makes me want to get out and plant something too, but I know we could have snow next week, so I'm just enjoying sitting outside in the warm sun :)
Blessings,
Marcia
You remind me of my mom, she would pour over the seed catalogs with a dreamy look in her eyes, planning her perfect garden. Of course, us kids had to weed it, that wasn't so dreamy for us.
A walk wasn't in the plan for me today. It was 10 degrees this morning. It warmed up to 16 and now might be 20.There was some snow yesterday with a bright, clear, blue sky. It was quite pretty. When the sun hit, it was like God was sending diamonds down from Heaven. Me and my silly imagination!
We are getting tons of seed catalogs, but it is also the way we make our living. I handled ordering for the first time last year and I'm better to let hubby and employee do the ordering. Everything looks wonderful when you are in a chair and don't have to weed around the plants. I guess one could call it chair gardening, but you don't get much exercise that way!
keep your dreams going, kim! :)
absence makes the heart grow fonder. it's sooo true!!
i have been aching for a bkie ride...
the blog looks great kim, i like the simple, stream-lined look!!
Beautiful pics and wants me to rush May...We awoke to 11 degrees here today.
I can't think of flowers now...it's only 10 degrees outside! But, I want lilacs this year and an herb garden...and veggies. I will plant flowers that spread, like black-eyed susan, and queen anne's lace, and sweet annie. I want a true country garden.
Hugs,
Courtney
Well, we get not flowers *any* time of the year, but I love getting the seed catalogues for the veggies.... Can't wait!
My impatiens finally succumbed to the freeze we had last night. The weather has been so warm here, they were still blooming. That's unheard of...they're usually long gone by now! We have a baby coming in March, too! And a wedding in May....busy spring!
I'll have to force myself to buy flowers. I am so cheap when it comes to bouquets, but I am going to try to keep plants and flowers blooming. I miss flowers, too!
I think an herb garden sound lovely. Have you read Sharon Lovejoy's books? She has a blog, too. I think it's called Sharon Lovejoy's Sunflower House (or something like that). You'd like!
I always see what flowers are in the buckets at the supermarket. They are usually very reasonable in price.
It'll be a good while before there are any flowers here. Especially since I keep forgetting to plan spring bulbs in the fall.
I love flowers too but at the moment I'm content of having some poinsettias in bloom. Some that I kept over from last year are blooming despite lots of neglect while busy with the triplets. God is so good to give us flowers in winter. JB
