Monday Morning in May

You know when I am going on and on about October, I can tell you I have completely forgot about May.
My goodness what a beautiful month this has been. I wake up every morning to a new world, it seems.
My flowers are just amazing. These flowers came from Nik. My dear son by marriage, because God answered my prayer and he married Emilie. I just don't know how our family ever got along without the wonderful people God brought into our lives through marriage. Then of course, all of the grand children. My cup does overflow. I hope your day was wonderful.

Next door to me, on the left side is my grandparents house. On the right side is the house I grew up in as a child. The town was putting a new freeway in 1962. They condemned the houses there. My Dad bought a house and had it moved here. The house was built in 1943 and had been gutted and used for a warehouse. So when Dad bought it, it had no interior walls. My Dad and Mom worked on it one whole summer and I know every nook and cranny in the place.

After my Dad remarried, he sold that house and built another one way outside town so we could raise cows, sheep, and pigs.  My Dad owned six grocery stores and a feed store. So we had lots of chickens, ducks, turkeys and exotic chickens.
The lady who bought the house almost 40 years ago, was moved into a care facility. She is still alive but her children sold the house earlier in the spring and this weekend was the estate sale. We will be getting new
neighbors soon. A couple of my boys went over and went through the house. I was curious, but somehow didn't have the heart to go look. It has been bad enough living next door, watching every thing go down hill.

I do hope they have sheep, and goats and chickens and children. I hope they will use the pens that my Dad built and that the house will be loved again. Such a lot of work they will have to do though. No one has done anything since we moved in 15 years ago. Or they may tear it all down and start over. It will be interesting to watch.

Of course, greedy ole me, they got a insane amount of money for that house, the fence in the back yard is falling down and they never even cleaned up the weeds out back. The carpet is what my parents put in it in 1975. The appliances are from 1970 ( The boys gave me blow by blow details when they got back.)  Just think what I could ask for this one.
Then I say, but I would never live anywhere else that I would like better, but the greed sometimes gets to me. No weeds to chop, no water woes. Then there is the problem of the porches. I don't want to leave my porches. Or the tree in front. Funny things as  I write this, that I think are important.

Okay enough rambling on and on. Life is always changing isn't it? I keep thinking, I am going to get better with accepting things as they are, and I realize, I am still not any better at it.
It is Monday, the laundry baskets overfloweth.
Have a lovely week,
~Kim~

Your flowers are so beautiful and you live in a mansion. I love those porches too but I don't think I could live in the heat for very long. I's be carrying a fan on wheels everywhere I go. hehe.

It's always sad seeing things in disrepair. There's a nice house next door to the farm that has a new roof on it but the house stands empty since the last big flood and now the yard is all overgrown with trees and weeds and vines. It's such an eye sore. The marriage broke up and they each went their separate ways.
The basement walls got damaged and also the electrical panel was downstairs and so the power commission condemned the house.

I hope you get nice neighbours too.
Hugs,
JB

Isn't that lovely to have wonderful family honouring you on Mothers Day!
I get upset when I see familiar old places going downhill. I suppose I don't deal with big change too well!
Enjoy your beautiful home and porches and land!
Blessings!

So nice that you were able to spend time with your sweet family for Mother's day.
The flowers are beautiful.

It will be interesting to see what happens to the old place.
For your sake, I hope that the new owners love it, and make it wonderful again :)

Hope that you're off to a great start for this new week.

Good morning! Thoroughly enjoyed your post as always! Yes, our weather has just been soo gorgeous hasn't it. I am busy soaking it all in too. Such gorgeous flowers! Nothing as sad as something old and beloved going downhill. I know how you feel. Sure hope you get some wonderful new neighbors, and it will be interesting to see what they do with the property. Enjoy your week!

The house has the same stuff in it that your parents put in? Whoa, talk about a time capsule! I'm afraid to ask how much they got for the house. The new people will probably have to gut it.

I've been saving up raspberries, since they've been on sale, and I'm planning on making jelly today. So excited to finally have jam again!

Oh, yes! The laundry baskets overfloweth!:-) Just the two of us, though, and it really isn't difficult to tame.:-) It sounds like a perfectly wonderful week-end. Interesting, though, what people seem to be able to pay for property these days. I do so wish we had porches here. Perhaps we'll add one.:-) xo Nellie

Oh, I hope you have friendly new neighbors...I too would not trade those wonderful porches on that lovely home of yours for all the tea in China...someday, I hope to sit in a chair and view your Field of Dreams in person! Thank you for your kind comment regarding the new babe...as I was reading comments Travis jumped in my lap and somehow it was deleted along with five others...Granny isn't as quick as she use to be...I love the new blog header photo...it is beautiful!!! Thinking of you, your friend from Maine...

I hope you get good neighbors ... neighbors can make a huge difference. We moved to our current home, primarily because we had problem neighbors. We have good neighbors now and love where we're at ... although we'd love living on the beach even more! But we'll stay in Illinois to be close to our grands. ;-)

I hope you get good neighbors too. If not, make a good fence. Happy Mother's Day!

Sometimes it's sad to see changes as time passes, especially when you have so many good memories. Hope you are blessed with wonderful neighbors.
