Spring Today

I still can't help it when these come up in the yard. I still stop and pick them and make a wish. I know they will scatter seeds and more will come up but to me they still are a bit of magic I can hold in my hand. I love when I look out in the yard now and see the little babies walk by and pick one up and blow. I have so many wishes in my yard.

For the longest time I have had a devotional I have wanted to share. I have put it off as it is different. I thought today it might be nice as I am feeling like that today, Like maybe I need to pick these dandelions and make myself a spring tonic.

"The owner of the tenement which I have occupied for many years has given notice that he will furnish but little or nothing more for repairs. I am advised to be ready to move.

At first this was not a very welcome notice. The surroundings here are in many respects very pleasant, and were it not for the evidence of decay, I should consider the house good enough. But even a light wind causes it to tremble and totter, all the braces are not sufficient to make it secure. So I am getting ready to move.

It is strange how quickly one's interest is transferred to the prospective home. I have been consulting maps of the new country and reading descriptions of its inhabitants. One who visited it has returned, and from him I learn that it is beautiful beyond descriptions, language breaks down in attempting to tell of what he heard while there. He says that, in order to make an  investment there, he has suffered the loss of all things that he owned here, and even rejoices in what others would call making a sacrifice. Another, whose love to me has been proven by the greatest possible test, is not there. He has sent me several clusters of the most delicious  fruits. After tasting them, all food here seems  insipid.

Two or three times I have been down by the border of the river that forms the boundary, and have wished myself among the company of those who were singing praises to the King on the other side. Many of my friends have moved there. Before leaving they spoke of my coming later. I have seen the smile upon their face as they have passed out of sight. Often I am asked to make some new investment here, but my answer in every case is " I am getting ready to move,." ( Streams of the Desert. p. 325)

For we know that if our earthy house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. ( 2 Cor. 5:11)

I have been reading Streams in the Desert for 20 years I think. I would come to this passage and would wonder what it was talking about then one day it was like a light came on and I knew what it was  talking about. I just love the words and I try to remember them.

I hope you have had a lovely Sunday. I of course, have been an hour behind all day. :)
I hope your Monday is wonderful.

well, i'm not sure i got the intended meaning of that passage, but i do know that nothing is a given; nothing is permanent, and we have to trust that whatever is next is going to be okay.

i like your dandelion.

I find it hard to resist a dandelion too. They remind me of being a carefree child. It was spring-like here today too (+5). A perfect kind of day for the maple sap to run.

I spent a year of my life with this devotional, I came to the realization that to understand it, you need to go beyond your 4 walls, and out, of yourself. I think by looking beyond instead of just at my present circumstances then I could grasp much of the tenet behind the words. I think it has much more to offer than a lot of newer devotionals,Things that are God breathed last longer than those that are super market quality. The book is not scripture, but it has much to offer to a searching, questing heart.
Have a great week, dandelions are popping up everywhere here.

I would trade in some snow for some dandelions... As someone pointed to me earlier, the dandelion should be a symbol of the strength and resilience of women. They survived pesticide attracts and cannot be eradicated easily and continue to flourish.

I'll try to ponder on your devotional.
Hugs
