A Quiet Day

I walked around with my camera today. I wanted to see if I could get a shot of these tiny wild flowers so you can see how perfect they are and just so pretty. Always the first wild flower on the foothills to bloom.

Then further down an even tinier  purple one. My camera is good for closeups. It is a 5 pixel Cannon. I love that camera and it has its moods and sometimes I think I won't be able to get it to work and I fiddle with it and it starts working again. I am going to be up a creek if it breaks.

This has all started blooming since yesterday. It just amazes me at how fast once we have a warm day things change.

Yesterday because I could open the house I spent the morning dyeing wool. I enjoyed  it so much the house didn't smell too bad at least the boys didn't complain.

I love the different colors I got out of this bunch of wool. I am still trying to get this down but I am pretty happy. On the blues and greens I got that mottled look, now if I can make myself stop stirring I will get a better look.

I love it when wool is stacked like that. I should have cut it for my new rug and started it today, but I just petted it and stared at it. I just wasn't ready to cut it yet.

Then the blues and greens. I think it is so much fun to do this and watch the results. There is a special kind of freedom too. With no wool stores in my town, I always have to order wool then wait for it to get here. Now I try to keep white, off white and heather in my stash and dye so that I can dye what I need. Being able to dye wool gives my mind a rest and a peace that just makes me feel so settled and calm.

I am so thankful for a quiet Sunday. Next week will be anything but quiet.

I hope you had a very nice quiet day.
Blessings to you,
~Kim~

Kim, its beautiful. You're becoming a great dyer! Uhm, I understand the stacking and petting. Sometimes it's just too pretty to cut right away ;)

Gorgeous colors. I finally went through the dye book today and jotted down the Cushing colors I need. One of these days, I am actually going to try it!!!
Wool has such a wonderful feel to it. Sometimes I will fondle it, too.
Hugs :)

I can see how rewarding dying your own wool is when you end up with such gorgeous colors!

Oh I really love the blue and green. They are so beautiful, and I like the little mottled effect. It makes them look so deep.

Mimi wanted me to tell you that she has at least 7 more boxes, maybe more. And she also wanted me to tell you to start your flowers about 6 weeks before so they will be nice and vibrant for the wedding. :)

GORGEOUS! I know just how you feel, petting the wool, haha, fabric has that same pull on me! Glad you enjoyed your day!

The colors are gorgeous. I think with the beautiful blues, green and sand colors you should make an ocean inspired rug. Wouldn't that be pretty. What ever you make it is going to be lovely. Have fun!

I like those colors! What fun it must be to dye your own wool, making each project even more "hand made"!

I love seeing your dyed wools ... I assume that you don't want the mottled look? I kind of like it ... it gives a rather primitive, rustic look.

What beautiful colors of wool. I understand about just wanting to look and touch them before cutting. I often feel the same way about fabric and about my yarn for knitting....

Have a blessed week....

Having had all girls, it's rather hard for me to imagine boys minding an odor. I mean, I have three brothers and that's some odor in and of itself! LOL I would love to learn to do half of the wonderful things you know how to do!

Great looking wool and I love your calm colors. It's funny how dying wool can feel so fulfilling. I too pat and look at my wool and I also love to smell it and rub it on my cheek. Wool is wool and I love the feel of it.

It's nice having a quiet Sunday.
Have a great week.
Hugs,
