A Glorious Morning

Today is just a glorious morning. It feels and smells like the beach. I love when we have a weather system dropping down from Alaska. It brings such nice weather with it. The wind is blowing and we have clouds. Great but gray looking clouds. Its so nice to have some weather and a break from the sun. I have only a small bit of my last flowerbed to clean today. I am taking out my Black-Eyed Susans today. They get so filled with grass its just easier to take them out and start over.

I have a few white pumpkins. I am hoping for some more. I don't know if we stay cool. I do have some orange ones though. It will be time to take out the garden soon. Its all very tired. It will be nice to turn my attention to house things for awhile. Like cooking. I found out something yesterday. I love carrot muffins and carrot cake. I just never like the shredding of it. I read yesterday to take your carrots and cook them and mash them. It worked so nice. I used all the carrots I had. I think I want to make pumpkin muffins today. I have been experimenting trying to get a gluten free baking to turn out. Without using Xanthan gum.
So far I have been disappointed. Except make cream cheese frosting and slap that on and it makes everything taste better. Its a little like learning to cook all over again.

The leaves are beginning to change. I think the poor things are just tired of the heat. Its so nice to hear the sound of the ocean in the cottonwoods. I think that is my favorite thing about cottonwoods. They won't change color until about 18th of December though.

Have a lovely day,
~Kim~

I love Autumn colors and the cooler weather and I just started tiding up a tired daylily bed.

Cute little white pumpkin. Are you planning to use it as a decoration or do you eat it? I love carrot cake and I use my food processor to grind the carrots instead of shredding them. It quick and easy.

Take care, Hugs, Julia

Mmmmm. Carrot cake sounds yummy!
I'm glad you are smelling ocean air. I think we have a hot day coming on Thursday but after that the air should cool. A LOT!
I pulled out the zucchini today. I sautéed three little zucchinis to put in a crustless quiche and that's the end!
We're busy listening to the saws and hammers. The progress is encouraging!
God be with you, sweet Kim. Oh, BSF is good, good, good. I can't remember if you shared your BSF history with me.

I concur. Cream cheese frosting can make just about anything taste good. Heck, I could just eat the frosting.
Happy to hear your weather is getting bearable.
Hugs :)

I will have to try the mashed carrots, as it sounds grand. Your garden looks wonderful. I love how you described the cottonwoods. They are one of my favorite trees. I am also happy to hear your weather has improved! Can't wait to see your finished pumpkins.

Ooohh I was thinking about cottonwoods today, too! I'm so happy that you are getting this cooler weather. We will have some warm temps next week, but probably only for a couple of hours in the middle of the day. Right now my feet are getting very cold sitting here at the computer...

I take the easy way and buy shredded carrots in a bag ! I use them in everything, especially carrot cake.
Beautiful wreath on your door. Are those your own Sunflowers in the wreath ?

I was not very successful with gluten free baking but I did find one red velvet cupcake recipe and one carrot cake recipe that were delicious. If I could only find the recipes. They've been lost for a couple years now. It seems like you just planted the garden. Where did the summer go?

The flowers are fabulously beautiful! It's a surprise to find Autumn here with Summer packed and gone. I hate to sound like my (grand) parents but where does time go? lol
