Racing Spring---Just Work

I forget how much work we do in the spring. The work to get to the fun part of planting. We have trimmed at this count 89 trees. Trees have been cut down. Which is always sad. The drought was just too hard on them.

There is always something to look forward to like getting more fruit trees. Ron trimmed 89 trees so far. That isn't counting his Bonsai garden which he trimmed a bunch in there or his Japanese maples.
I have moved so many limbs. We have made a huge pile of brush.

We are going to try and farm smarter. I know this looks like a huge mess, but really its going to be turned into gold. We are going to shred it to make wood chips and use it on top of the mulch  to keep in more moisture and put more minerals back into the soil.
So we have been saving every bit. I would call it gardening with purpose. I have to go to a wedding shower today so I won't be able to be a farm girl. Ron is disking while I am gone so when I get back I hope we have a huge jump on all of this spring work. We work until we can barely stand up and then get up and do it again.

To tell you the truth, I have never been happier. We have more rain coming so this has just been such a year of blessing. My chicks are growing like weeds. I should take some more pictures of them. Soon.
I spend way too much time watching them and fooling with them. They will all now get on the little door in the cage I use so I can hold them. They just make me laugh.

I hope you have a lovely day.
I thought I would check in for a bit. I need to get myself ready. Officially Spring is Monday.
So I haven't lost my mind completely. I haven't bought more seeds than we have land---yet!!!

Have a lovely day,
Kim

Our very first garden, when I first started this blog. When our oldest grandson was two. Our grandsons have just turned 10!! I think I know less now than I did then. Life goes by way to fast.

I'm so excited about more rain, too! It's supposed to be 95 this weekend, then the storms are going to cool it off again. I'm not ready for summer yet. It has been nice to sit on our little porch, though. I think something good is going to happen.

Kim, you are such a hard worker but count yourself lucky to have a man who is interested in keeping the place tidy and who works alongside with you.

When two works together it makes the work so much lighter and faster. Good luck on this new way of gardening. You can learn a lot online about mulching. I need to mulch more too to keep the weeds down.
Hugs,
Julia

HI Kim, remember me, I so enjoyed my visit with you this evening, great to catch up on what you have been doing, and why am I not surprised that you have been busier than a bee! I am sorry that you lost trees due to the drought, we also lost some of our fruit trees last year!
I loved the rooster from Tractor Supply too and like you if the 200. bucks was in my pocket I know where it would go!~smile~
I know I have missed out on a lot of goings on here in bogland hopefully I can soon catch up, if not I will start where I am at!
I see you still love chickens, I do too, and last year DH bought me some turkeys, three two females and one tom! he is a hoot, every time I go outside he starts to gobble, and sprints around the yard for his girls!
As always so glad to visit, hugs,
Sue

Sounds like you're doing just what you're meant to be doing and loving it, even if it is tiring but in a good way!
every blessing!

Love your thoughts on gardening with a purpose !
Wow, 89 trees - you must have quite a spread with LOTS of trees. Glad you are getting more rain - something we take for granted here in PA.

I still have a bit of old snow in the backyard but yesterday I poked around and found a few wee crocus sprouts. Yeah!!

March is such a busy time in the garden, isn't it? Did you already have a wood-chipper or can you rent them?

My father in the Central Valley used to plant his tomatoes under hot caps in March. But here I am trimming and weeding and cleaning up winter's clutter. I need to feed my dear plants! Rain is supposed to start tomorrow, so I was glad to get some work done today.

I am soo happy that I find you again...I have to tell you that "somehow" several of my favorite blogs were deleted from my roll list. Who knows what I did? Anyway, unless I knew the name of the blog, or saw a comment from them somewhere I had no idea how to get there, lol. Anyway through your comment on my last post I FOUND you again. So good to catch up some. As always your posts are always so peaceful and pretty. Hope you have a good week-end!
