Week Two of Road Work

Here we are at week two of road work. It has been just tiring and scary. We ended up taking out our mailbox so we could get in our driveway. Well, Ron and Peter can get in and out of the driveway. I drive a big car so I am house bound. The road work guys are working six days a week! So hopefully it will be finished soon.

I wanted to show you a little cupboard I bought on Saturday. Makenzie was having a sale. I don't think I mentioned this, with trying to be up beat and positive on this blog. Makenzie and William moved into a new house at the end of June. On July 1st, someone kicked in the front door and stole all of her camera equipment. Since she is a professional photographer, that was the worst thing that could happen. The insurance only covered what market value was now for the equipment. She had a yard sale this last Saturday and was able to make up the difference to buy new equipment. One of the really great things about Makenzie is how she handles adversity. She was thankful that no one was hurt and it was after all just things.
She is along with all of the others, another blessing added to my life.

Here is the little cupboard. I am going to put embroidery thread in it.

Don't you just love the tiny little drawer pulls?

We painted on Saturday. At the rate we are going we will be finished with the house in September. Ron said on Sunday, " Then we will start the outside." I laughed like a crazy woman, I tell you.

I haven't done anything with it yet, just got the furniture back and all of the clutter gone.

That wall unit was a bear to move. I spent all day Friday cleaning it out. I don't think I have messed with it since the kids were young. It was filled with VHS tapes and art projects the kids made when they were young. Peter and Elliot were five or six. That is how long it has been just sitting there. Its all cleaned out now and empty. Well except for the drawers that have DVD's that I also culled. It makes me feel really yucky that I have kept so much stuff.

This next weekend, it will be the breakfast nook and the kitchen. Having Peter and Elliot here to help is so wonderful. We can get so much more painting done with four adults painting. I am very thankful that they help us. I never thought that this house was as big as the house we moved from to here. I think it must be the high ceilings and all of the windows. In trying to speak of nice things, I will stop here. All that is going on in the world, just makes me sad.

I hope you have a lovely week.

I've taken a vow this week that instead of sitting down with Facebook, I'm going to sit and write instead. So what am I doing? Commenting on blogs. :-D

The house is so pretty and white now! Did you toss my old sculptures? I was thinking last time we were there that I wanted to take them home.

That is some huge equipment in front of your house. How happy you will be, once they are finished with the work, and gone!!
Everything looks great! So bright and clean.. how nice to be getting all of that done this summer.
Glad to know that Makenzie was able to make up the finances to purchase the photog. equipment. Those poor kids!
Super cute little cupboard!

Keep up the positive attitude :)

i'm so sorry about their burglary. what a waste... but i'm glad she had insurance to cover part of it and is resilient enough to find a way to cover the rest. :) i like your little cabinet, too.

So happy Makenzie will be able to replace her camera equipment.
I swear the world has gone mad. I fear for my sons and grandson. So much evil is manifesting itself. It makes me very sad, too.
Hugs :)

Sad about the theft! I'm glad she was able to replace her stuff.
I BET you are sick, sick, sick of the road project. Boo.
The painting looks so great - so clean!

Oh good, you got the drawer cabinet! I was eyeballing that one too. ;) I hope they are done with your road soon. Just think how pretty and smooth it will be when it's done.

i LOVE your little cabinet. i have been looking for a cabinet like that but big, like sofa table size. someone i follow here in bogland has one and i just adore it!!!

the house looks good and the morning glories are stunning, yours are always the best!!

road work is a beast, and all the dust and debris cover all your outdoor things. you may need a good power wash when they are done!!!!

How terrible about the robbery. I just feel like this is becoming the new normal and everyone is going to have to start investing more in security. I hope the road crews finish soon. When they built a new highway in front of my house it was a muddy mess for months. I guess you can be thankful it's not muddy! :) But I sympathize with you..it was a big nightmare until they finished it. Your cabinet is too cute...I love it. It reminds me of those card library drawers.

Dear Kim, sending hugs and prayers as you deal with all this.
i love that sweet little cabinet- it will be perfect for threads!
So relieved that no-one was hurt in the robbery.

Not sure how I missed this as I was wondering how the road work was coming...know you'll be glad when that's over. The paint looks soo good. Fresh and what a good feeling to get everything cleaned out. Soo sorry about the theft, but soo glad she was able to replace it. Love it when people just get busy DOING what they have to do instead of bemoaning what happened. The cupboard is just adorable, and what a perfect idea of what to keep in it. Hope you are enjoying the rest of your summer We are going to hit the high ninety's and even some low one hundreds for the next few days..sigh. But thank God for air conditioning huh?

I'll be happy for you when your road is complete. And I'll bet you will LOVE driving on it, despite the long days of waiting for it to be complete.

Hooray for cleaning-out and painting. I've just started a painting project in my upstairs bathroom. I need the extra "light" that a white-ish paint will bring.

I like your new embroidery thread cubbies. Looks like a useful piece. How rotten that Mackenzie's photography equipment was stolen. She's wise to find a way to replace it.

You and Ron are awfully hard workers! I haven't had to paint very much for a long time, and although I do enjoy it, it is not easy work. and I have too many other things to do now and can't afford to get exhausted as I know would happen! God is strengthening you.
