Joy in Little Things

The trees are full of robins. The hills are full of snow. It may feel like winter today, but the birds say no.

They were taking a bath in the puddles left over from the rain. Its that time of year that fills me with joy. Knowing that it will be time to dream of planting seeds and watching the tiny blades stick up out of the damp and warming earth. I am so glad I live in a place that even though the snow is falling in the hills the robins are taking baths in the rain. It has been a nice week.

For the first time in two years,( after the 10 days to slow the spread) Ron finally went back to the office.

It has taken me a bit to adapt. I am reminded again of how many things I take for granted. We had lunch together everyday. I forget to eat when I am here alone. He is always on time for dinner. He just has a short walk to his office, but a twenty minute drive after he gets off work. Just those things that I didn't notice before.

I finally had enough brain power to work on my Dancing Rabbit rug.

I am still working on ideas in my brain for this. So it really is a work in progress. I am so glad that Saundra is holding another hook along. She posted pictures of the people that are doing great work over there on her blog. Saundra of Woodland Junction.

I have to stop hooking sometimes to do some counted cross stitch. It could be that all of the cross stitch artists have been posting their wares on Instagram of the wonderful patterns that will be going to market in Nashville next week. I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing what they will be offering. I remarked to my husband there just isn't enough time to sew all of those wonderful patterns I would love to make.

This is what I worked on this week, while not hooking.

Its called Hen and Chicks by Brenda Gervais. I have had the pattern for awhile and its almost spring, and the only chicks I will have now will be sewing them.

I hope you have the best weekend and it isn't too filled up with snow.

Thanks for stopping by,

Kim

What a lovely post. You are making great progress on your rug. I like the direction you are going in. I would live to get back to cross stitch but my poor eyes.
We are getting snow but March is around the corner so I am hopeful.

Oooohhh, I'm loving your chocolate bunnies!! I know I will regret not doing t he hook along - but I just have too many projects going right now to pay it proper attention. But I will do it some day...I have always loved the design and have asked Saundra to draw me out a pattern. I, too, have to balance my hooking with my stitching and vice versa. You are right...so many wonderful things and we just don't have time for all of them no matter how much we stitch or hook. I have resisted looking at much of the new market designs since I went a bit "overboard" last year and don't think I have gotten to any of those yet...besides all of the other patterns in my stash. I am familiar with the hens and chicks pattern you are doing - it's going to be adorable. Brenda is one of my very favorite designers....and her patterns, along with Stacy Nash and BBD, make up a large, large, part of my stitching stash LOL. Your spring photos and descriptions sound so wonderful.... We still have mountains of snow on the ground...and got more yesterday. Since March is often one of our snowiest months, I am not even letting myself think of spring yet (not hard when all you see is white and the temps are still in the negative double digits as soon as the sun goes down LOL). Have a wonderful weekend Sweet Kim.... ~Robin~

Your bunnies are wonderful. I'm wondering what is going on in your creative mind for the rest of the rug. I'll just have to wait and see.

I like your sweet chicken cross stitch. It's been years since I did some cross-stitch. I would need to wear magnifying glasses to stitch. My sight is not as good as it used to be.

I'm like you, I forget to eat when I'm alone.

We had snow here today. One day it rains and the next it snows but I have some daffodils in the back that are poking through the soil in one sheltered spot.

Take care,
Hugs, Julia

You have some beautiful and cheery spring projects to work on. I love that sweet cross stitch!

Oh, how happy those blossoms are!
Some are not ready to say goodbye to winter, but I most certainly am!
I long for sunny and warmer day :)

Did that little couplet at the top just pop into your mind while watching the birds?

This is a joyful post indeed. Yay for spring on the way!

I cannot wait to see your new rug. I know what you mean about so many projects and not enough time.

That sounds lovely! My girls hung up a bird feeder, and we've been putting bird feed on the ground. The doves and quail come every day, and the bird feeder attracts cardinals and pyrrloxias, I think is how you spell it? Desert cardinals that are gray. The woodpeckers try to fight them and it's entertaining.

Hi Kim!
Just checking in to see how you are doing. What gorgeous blossoms. We just came out of a cold spell and night temps were -24*. But we are up in the 50's today and sounds like it will be so for this week, then likely change again. Spring is coming. Winter can't fight her down!

Your stitching is wonderful.
