By myself. All alone. On Tuesday. I painted that fence for 8 hours. By myself. With oil based paint. Have I ever mentioned I am the messiest painter in the world. When I paint it looks like I take a bath in it. No matter what it is that I am painting. This is oil based paint that doesn't come off very easy. I have really white streaks in my hair now. I also have white paint tattoos.
So without further ado, here is my fence.
The front of the fence |
The side of the fence |
The fuzz from the glove stuck to the fence. So I ended up with a little roller. I can paint three sides of one side of the fence. Then I go on the inside of the fence and paint that side. It took me about an hour per section. I have exactly the same amount to go. One more side and the back of the fence. I was so sore yesterday I could hardly move. Plus I got so sunburned because I was trying to get rid of my okie tan. You know when you wear short sleeves and you have a line? So I tore the sleeves off of one of Ron's old t-shirts and my oldest shorts and painted all day. Yes, vanity, vanity. I was a wreck when I did finally come into the house. I am ready to finish the job now though, I am not as sore as I was. I can at least get up out of a chair without wanting to cry.
I do not like oil based paint.
This last weekend for Nik's birthday, earlier in the year, Emilie talked to a man who is a magician while she was standing in line at a grocery store. She had never heard of this place called the Magic Castle.
You have to be invited by someone who works there or knows someone.
It is very exclusive and its really hard to get to go there. There is a dress code so they all dressed up and drove down to Hollywood.
The had a blast and they are still talking about the magic shows they saw. They still can't figure out how in the world these people did the magic tricks. Plus a dinner that they said was the best they have ever eaten.
I had never heard of the place until they started planning on going there.
Our oldest grand daughter turned 9 this year. I was so happy when I saw the pictures from her birthday, because all nine of our grand kids were in the same place. Ben and Megan had made it to Kessie's and Ryan's house and the kids were able to spend time with all of their cousins. For my Mother's Day that made me so happy to know all of the kids were together and Ben and Megan were once again with family.
So life has changed a lot in five years. Change is good. It keeps me from getting in a rut. I am though, hoping I can slow down pretty quick. I still blame this fit bit. I sure sat a lot more before I got it.
I just want to thank you so much for stopping by what is turning out to be my once in a while blog.
I hope wherever you are life is wonderful and perfect like today has been weather wise.

The Fitbit can be a curse for sure but it does motivate me which is a good thing.
What an ambitious project painting the fence. I HATE oil based paint and I, too, wear lots when I paint.
Your yard did look lovely for the wedding :)
Hi, saw you in my reading list. (I'm rarely online anymore). The Fitbit reference above is funny. IF you were wearing one, your steps must have been awesome with all that painting. I love my Fitbit and getting credit for activity. Even kneading bread counts. :-)
Beautiful hydrangeas! And such a pretty yard for the wedding. Painting a fence is hard work, but when it's done, it lasts and lasts, unlike doing dishes and laundry. The fence looks great! I've painted fence with a cotton work glove and it worked great. But my fence was made of wood pole. Maybe that's the difference?
Don't over do it now!!
I wondered if you were still using the Fitbit because I hadn't read anything about it here for a while! Often when I am taking a walk I think about how glad I am that I don't have one - I already seem to feel the need to document and measure everything and check off my boxes, so I am trying to just be natural about my walks -- that is funny because it certainly doesn't come naturally to want to walk, either!!
Oh yes time does fly....I like your blog background. I went to the Cutest blog on the block and got a new background for my blog. Thanks for the great idea....I most definitely needed a change.
Oh my. Oil based paint is a pain! The fence looks great, though! On a somewhat humorous note...I wonder if you have suntan marks around these paint spots that you tell us about!? :) :) I would love to come swim in your pool! It's been so rainy here...all week!!...that I wonder if our flowers will ever bloom, or if we will even want to swim!
is the last picture from the wedding, 5 years ago?? i think so, your home looked so beautiful...the grounds knew to be beautiful, as there was something special to celebrate!!! that was, i'm sure, a great mothers day day gift to know all the cousins were together!!
the fence looks great...i hope you finish soon!!
Oh no, the glove didn't work! At least you had a fallback. I hope you get un-sore soon!
Your pool looks so inviting , Kim ! Hopefully you will get another 5 years from your freshly painted fence.

Oh my goodness! That's a big painting job! Well done!
It IS good to hustle around getting ready for an event or just guests, even.
Take care! I hope your tan's all fixed (LOL!)
Kim, you are a work horse. Painting that fence is a huge project and it looks great. I don't like painting with oil pain and I use mostly water base paint for that reason.
Like Alica, I wonder if you have sun tan marks where the pain was.
I just got my internet yesterday and I'm playing catch up with everyone when I have a chance... It will take me a while.
Hugs, Julia
