Now I Can Write

Our heatwave has finally ended. 67 days! Over 100! Normal is around 33. I really did sit down a couple times to write a blog. It was all so complainy and whiny that I just deleted them. It really started to get to me. Saturday and Sunday it was humid and 111 both days. We had thunder and lighting and wind and rain. Very Midwest feeling. We lost a huge tree on Saturday night.

It is really big. To me it is an answer to prayer. Ron was going to cut it down when it got cooler. The trunk doesn't look that big from this angle but it is a huge tree. Now all he has to do is cut it up. Then Sunday we had an even bigger storm. We lost two more trees. Two of our Liquid Amber trees. The wind was so severe that it just picked those trees up and snapped them off. Like toothpicks. We lost lots and lots of limbs from other trees too. I will be cleaning up for awhile. I am ready for some fall weather. Even 98 will be nice if all of the humidity will just pack up and go as well.

I hope everyone had a lovely Labor Day weekend. I didn't do anything that I planned. Hopefully I will be able to change that now that it might be cooler. I just couldn't stand to hook.

I have a few pumpkins. I thought I would show you.

The little white ones. The ones I found when I had to look to see. Most of them are white. I have a few orange but none of the other ones have made it. I am hoping I still might get some as it is going to be in the 90s until mid September. Its getting to the end though. Just having a few makes me happy.

I hope you all had a nice weekend. Ron came home on Thursday sick and stayed that way for all four days. I am keeping my fingers crossed I stay well.

Have a lovely new week, I am praying that Irma looses her intensity and decides to go out from whence she came. Nothing is impossible with God, right.

~Kim~

"The world was particularly tranquil after the storm. The sun had a clarity and brilliance and the sky was very deep and pure. The drenched earth glittered. Even the garden, with everything battered and drowned, had a peaceful look---all passion spent, as it were."---The Book of Stillmeadow-Page 240 Gladys Taber

So sorry that you are looing all those trees. It happened to us once that we had to cut 4 trees because of severe damage due to an ice storm. Mother nature can be severe in any form.

George has been cutting some trees at the farm. He cut one huge pine tree and today a huge maple. He's done haying at last.
I'm glad that you have some pumpkins with all the hot days you had. It was so cold yesterday morning and today it's hot and humid.

I've been slowing down on my heavy work in the yard but I had to cut the lawn today because we have rain coming. I sure hope Irma looses her strength because so many people will suffer terribly.
Yes, I pray that God will make Irma loose her strength.

Wishing you some cooler weather and that Ron is feeling much better.
Hugs, Julia

Hi Kim and happy Fall, almost. I so understand your lack of motivation with that heat. We've had some really warm days, but nothing like the west coast. Love your pumpkins and the sunflowers. Hope you stay healthy!

Noreen

That's a good Gladys quote! Argh. I hope the cool weather is coming your way soon. I slept until 6 this morning because it cooled off during the night. I love perfect temps, so picky.
Amazing, the trees! Wow! Don't overdo with all the clean up. I hope Ron is feeling better. I'd stay inside all weekend if it was so hot and I don't know how your AC handles that intense heat.
Take care, sweet farm girl! It's nice to hear from you!

Oh that's a long long time to be over a 100 degrees! I am afraid I'd be complaining too. We had 4 days in a row of over a hundred, and lots of humidity too, and a couple of heavy showers as well. It was just downright horrid out, lol. We did go to the beach on Sat. though and it was really nice down there. About 82 and a nice ocean breeze. Enjoy the rest of your week!

Ugh that is hot! I do not like the heat or the humidity. I am reading a Gladys Tabor book right now. the one she wrote after her friend died. I thought it might help after loosing my long time friend.

So sorry that your summer has been so hot, Kim, ours started out that way, but for now we have getting a break, our concern for now is that Irma will go out sea toward the east way eastward! You are so right, nothing is impossible with God! Thank you for praying!
I am sorry about your tress, over the years we have lost some Bradford pears through straight winds, not a pretty sight, and lots of work.
I too am looking forward to fall, we will soon be planting our fall garden!
Gladys Taber was one of my favorite authors, I remember when she would write articles for one of my favorite magazines, she had this way of bringing her reader right into her Still Meadow farm.
Have a blessed day,
hugs,
Sue

So sorry for so many typing errors, my computer keyboard has been acting up lately! I usually recheck, but didn't today as Dh is wanting me to go on an errand with him soon. LOL

Those are some large trees. I hate to lose trees since they are very scarce where I live. I'm afraid I have some buggy trees that will have to be taken down.

We're warm once again. At least we cool off well at night. God bless.

What weather! We also had a week of humidity with our heat - every day it was five or ten degrees hotter than predicted, but the humidity was the worst part, and it's not over yet. We also had smoke mixed in with our overcast days, keeping the heat in and the light out, very dismal.

But I'm really noticing when the air is a bit cooler, and then I like the humidity! So far I have been able to take a walk most evenings, because the temperature gets below 80 before 6:30 and I can bear walking in that ;-)

Autumn is on its way!!
